problem with drupal_goto

I have some custom nodes and I need some blocks to appear depending on node-type. My approach to solve the problem was replicate "/node/$nid" behavior to "/my-type1/$nid" in order to make blocks visible depending on node-type. If a user entered a view to "/node/$nid" he got "drupal_goto" to the right url. My problem now is that for some node-types /type/$nid works, but /node/$nid stopped working; any hint? Fully patched site hacked and cloaked

Hi, This is to share an (unpleasant) experience I had yesterday on a hacked site of a client (hacked despite fully patched modules and D6.15). It was apparent hackers used a cloaking method, i.e. the site appeared just fine to users but search engines saw a page full of drug advertisements. I found no trace of changes via user activity (revisions, user last access, etc.) and there was nothing suspicious in the source code of the cloaked pages. Eventually I found that the file bootstrap.inc had been altered (without changing the time stamp!) -- a whole chunk of obfuscated PHP code was added at the top of the usual Drupal code. I responded by reloading Drupal and locking up the site even more than up to now. This is to warn others about this hacking method, which may not be immediately apparent to webmasters. If anybody is interested in studying the obfuscated PHP code I found there, please contact me off the list. I also wonder whether Drupal could be adjusted so as to automatically set file bootstrap.inc, and perhaps other critical ones, as read-only. So far it is done only with settings.php file. drupal and recovering from errors

Hi all, I'm doing a master in communications and had a lot of courses on usability. A feature that keeps coming up in most of the heuristics is the ability to recover from errors. I've googled (a bit) on the topic and haven't found much yet, so I was wondering if there are existing modules or practices ? I guess a lot of people deal with this through database backups and restore nodes from there. I can also imagine that developers have their own system as for example letting content managers unpublish but not delete. Any other ideas, suggestions ? HnLn

Writing the Database Problems

Hi all, A few days ago, I posted a "reward" for help with some difficulties a friend was having writing to the database. As it turns out, he had forgotten to initialize a variable somewhere in the code and that was the problem. It took him a while to ferret out since it was failing silently at the db level. Thanks to all who responded - he now sees the advantage of sleep during the debugging process. :-) Thanks again..

A module to change node creation confirmation messages

Currently the message that is shown to a user when a node is created - @type %title has been created. - seems to be hardcoded into node.module. I've just helped someone on IRC change this, but it's quite a long-winded process. Would a module be welcome? It would unset the message set on line 463 of node.pages.inc, and allow the user to set their own message on a per-nodetype basis. Deployment process

Hello all very early on in my Drupal learning process but have been asked to come up with a solution where the client will be entering content on the production site and we may very well be making structural changes ( css etc ) on DEV and changes to the site setup ( for example a page name or somesuch ) , is there a way to seperate the data entered for content types from everything else so when deploying a site to production we can do so without worrying about content being lost. How do I write to the database?

My colleague is trying to simply write to a mysql database. And having a pretty difficult time of it. He has gone through the forums, posts, books and Pro Dev Drupal and is still having a problem We are wondering if it is because he are working with computed fields? Does that make any difference in syntax, for example? If someone could post any samples they have used of syntax - writing to a Drupal 6.15, standard install using computed field values - we would be so grateful. How to trigger access denied page from hook_nodeapi

Hi Drupal friends I'd like to trigger a access denied page from my hook_nodeapi function up on $op=view. I already tried: unset($node->content); drupal_access_denied(); This gives me a strange result: two access denied pages after each other. Thanks for giving me a hand! Best Regards Ernst

Drupal way to seed data for a module.

Hi, I'm building a module that has a lot of supporting data (it's a custom shipping module that maps postcodes/zips to regions etc.) and know that I can create the table using hook_schema() and could use hook_install() to add rows of data to the schema, but I'm talking tens of thousands of rows, so wondering if there is a better method for doing this? Send Contents of new node by email (2nd attempt)

Hi Drupalfriends How can I send the contents of a node by email after it has been created? I installed the print module and tired to call their methods from hook_nodeapi up on $op=='instert'. But it turned out that at this point not all node information is saved, which causes a lot of funny side effects (access control, strange messages on screen, etc). The best thing I found is to have a hidden iframe, when the contents is shown after the user hits send. The link of the iframe would call a call back url which triggers the mail functionality. But I'm not really happy with this solution. Any ideas are welcome? Best Regards Ernst
