Array of fields on an admin settings form

Hi. I have an admin settings form that contains an array of select fields. The problem is that when submitted, the values don't end up in the db and are the select fields go back to having no selected value. The form was working fine as checkboxes, but when the need arose for each label value to have multiple values to choose from (instead of on/off) and I made it an array of fields, as below, it stopped working. $results_tabs = array('' => 'None','a','b','c','d'); $form['myform']['form_text'] = array( '#value' => t('Select a setting for each type'), ); $form['myform']['myform_types'] = array('#tree' => 1); foreach(myform_list_content_types() as $i => $type) { $form['myform']['myform_types'][$type] = array( '#type' => 'select', '#title' => t($type), '#options' => $results_tabs, '#default_value' => $edit['myform']['myform_types'][$i] ); } return system_settings_form($form); Jeff

Usability in Views and Blocks

Hi all, I am new in Drupal development and when was working with some views and blocks, I found some lack of usability in them. I don't know if in that list you receive suggestions for Drupal 7, but if so, bellow are two good ones: The blocks could be more interactive. It could be possible seeing the regions in the page and bellow a bottom bar containing the blocks, side by site. We could drag the blocks to the regions we choose. And it is a good idea having a filter such as: "show me only the blocks that are seeing in the 'archives' page", for example. In the views module, the change is simple. When I have to choose a filter or a field to show in my views, I usually look for the name of the field, but it would be better if I could filter by the content type that the field appears, because it is easier looking for the when you are creating a view to display all the content from one especific content type. To have that two options is a good advance in usability. Maybe you have already thought about this features. So if possible, I'd like do get a feedback about such development and maybe I can help too. Regards, -- Ivan Rocha

Site specific modules

At my current location, I have developed a major site-specific module (well over 100K). I have already split the admin, pages, and blocks out into separate files. I have largely done this on the same model as I use for my DO contribs. At any given time I may have four or five changes in place at various stages of testing, and working on the next change. The problem is that the powers-that-be occasionally want one change moved to production quickly. I can't do that without potentially moving untested changes too. So I'm looking for ways that others get around this situation. Certainly I can move various smaller pieces into include files; this is not a major problem as we use eAccelerator to cache all the modules any way. Is that the best way or only way? Theming a table around form elements

Good evening, Using D6 Core, and ideally no contrib modules, I need to theme a table around two sets of checkboxes, each set of checkboxes has the same number of checkboxes. The table should be built like: col1: first checkbox from checkboxes1 col2: title of first checkbox from checkboxes1 col3: first checkbox from checkboxes2 .. and so on for each table row. My current thinking is to create a custom element type for the table, and to make the two checkboxes form elements children of the table element. Within the theme function for the table I will then render the checkboxes and build an array of table rows to pass to theme_table(). Would love any thoughts / recommendations. I think you'd do it with a hook_form_alter... set maxlength in the hook based on your roles. Character limit on body textarea

Good day Drupal Devs, I have an issue where I need to set a character limit on a content's body_field. I found maxlength, which is great, unfortunately it isn't everything I need since this is a per role situation. Some roles would have a limit, others unlimited. Has anyone successfully been able to apply an alter to the maxlength module to have it work for specific roles only? Thanks, -- Karyn

Blocks and page context

Good morning, I am building a module and invoking hook_block. I am wondering if there is a way for my block to gain some context about the page on which it will be rendered. Primarily I would like to know if my block can be aware of the URL of the page being displayed (not the http-requested URL in case they differ), and the access permissions of the page being displayed (not those of the block itself, or of the user accessing the block.
