Updating custom Views plugins for D8

Hey everyone, seeing as Views for D8 is now well on its way and appears to be mostly (or even fully) updated to the new core plugin system, it should theoretically be possible to update plugins written for Views 7.x-3.x to run on Views 8.x-3.x. The only problem is that I can find zero documentation on how to do that. This (http://blog.erdfisch.de/2012/09/hands-introduction-drupal-8-plugin-system) comes closest, but it only explains how to create an empty style plugin, not how to make it do the same stuff an existing D7 plugin does. Anything? Or am I way too early with this? Best regards, -Chris

NetBeans

Hi Folks, I have a NetBeans/xdebug configuration with xdebug/php/apache running on a CentOS server, and NetBeans 7.3.1 with the Drupal Development plugin on a client machine. I can not get CTRL-F9 (Immediate Expression Evaluation) to work and it is not at all clear to me why. I have been to Tools > Options > PHP > Debugging: Click on "Show Debugger Console", which produces a panel but not the actual console and I think this may be a clue. I know there is some experience in this community with this problem and although I recognize that this is not Drupal development exactly, it is certainly in the recommended reading list. Bootstrap Phases

Hi Folks, Which bootstrap phase has enough environment established that Drupal can now start going through the filesystem looking for *.info files and loading modules? Does this happen in two steps -- core and contrib? Or does this happen much later after the bootstrap phases? I spent some time stepping through bootstrap code yesterday and I was unable to find the meat of the procedure. Lots of calls to drupal_static which is part of loading the internal, in-memory configuration structures, and even a call to read the database "select * from cache_bootstrap where cid = 'system_list';" (Where is this row constructed and written to the database so bootstrapping can read it?) which has the effect of loading much of $data. Theme system

Hi Folks, I am still trying to understand sub-themeing. I have four themes installed and two enabled. Bartik(enabled), Seven(enabled), Garland, Stark. I tried a minimal, trivial sub-theme of Bartik by creating a subdirectory /sites/all/themes/bartik-cjm populated as follows: bartik-cjm/ bartik-cjm.info css/ local.css bartik-cjm.info: name = Bartik-cjm base theme = Bartik core = 7.x stylesheets[all][] = css/local.css According to everything I've read, and it has been a increasing amount, this should be sufficient to create a sub-theme named "Bartik-cjm" which inherits everything from Bartik and overrides local.css with my copy. I believe I should see this as one of the options in admin/appearance, and I don't. I can see that $data[system_list][theme] is populated from the MySQL database (select * from cache_bootstrap where cid = "system_list";), which only has my original four themes in the serialized object. So, either the database must be updated somewhere, somehow, by someone, -- OR -- Drupal must look at the filesystem and realize that there is more to the story than the database knows and extend the list. So, how does Drupal become aware of the custom sub-theme? -- Chris.
