Switching themes in modules

I have written a smallish module (http://drupal.org/project/manage) to provide a separate theme for administration pages. It works nicely by setting $custom_theme and providing some settings for a custom menu and selecting on which pages to apply the theme switch. I learned how to do all this by looking at the blocks.module. This is also the catch. It doesn't work nicely with blocks.module because selecting the current theme is really done through a set of global variables ($theme, $custom_theme). Once one module has overridden $custom_theme, the knowledge about the original theme (user-specific or standard) is lost. I currently solve this by excluding admin/block pages from the theme replacement. I have considered to introduce some kind of stack of overridden themes, but as this would affect at least system.module, blocks.module, theme.inc so I wanted to discuss this here first. Is anybody working on this theme selection right now? This might fall into the realm of Adrian's overhaul of the theming system. Any drupal experts? -- Passing CCK reference to another CCK object as an argument

Hi Would anyone know how to pass the reference of one CCK object to another CCK object during object creation as an argument? (cck = content creation kit) Ex: If i have two cck content types A and B with the following fields. A ( aid, some field) B (bid, aid, somefiled) so that every B is related to an A. When creating a new B object, how can I a pass the reference of an existing A object (ie an 'aid') via an argument (through the URL)? [ this should happen without the user having to enter it manuall -- i.e when the user clicks a particular URL a chosen aid shuold be passed ] Tnx in advance Srimal.

4.7 drupal.module backport to 4.6

I'm about to try to back port the 4.7 durpal.module to 4.7. Other than the normal issues like the forms api is there any reason that anyone would think this may not work so well? Also, Is anyone aware of anyone else that's done this yet. Other than getting the couple new 4.7 feature back to 4.6 I'm also going to try to get the distributed authentication to work across the version. Thanks

The figure sounds daunting: how can a very few volunteer developers deal with such a huge amount of bugs? The point is that we don't need to worry of the whole issue queue, but by getting somewhat more organized, the most important of those issues can be definitively dealt with. To start with, there shouldn't be anything critical within the Drupal project issues. Critical bugs must be dealt as a matter of priority. But one can get easily discouraged when facing 4 four pages of critical issues. The first step is therefore to sort out what is really critical from what is not. Having a shortlist of what is really critical, two or three developers can focus on a single issue, helping each other, so that one week later there is one really critical issue left. Similarly, 10-12 developers could get rid of 3-4 critical issues and in a few weeks, the list of critical issues would be down to almost nothing (only 1-2 issues caused by a large patch recently introduced in head, for example). If you wish to participate in tackling one of the 7 short issue queues featured here, please reply to the list, quoting only the issue you wish to 'adopt', changing also the subject title of your email to reflect the queue you have chosen. About time to post my SoC project

Ok, I am designing the Content Recommendation Engine based on Jeff Eaton's Votingapi. It utilizes the Slope One alogrithm authored by Daniel Lemire at the Univeristy of Quebec. He is also a member of the Drupal community. The engine itself is a sortof api. It provides two basic functions cre_top() and cre_similar(). cre_top() return the top n objects of a spefic type. So for instance, in my node_recommendation module that utilizes these functions, cre_top() returns the top N nodes. cre_similar() returns items that are similar to the specified object. So in node_recommendation this is used to show similar nodes to the one a user is currently visiting (note: this is non-personalized, where as cre_top() is). Current code is in my sandbox, but it shall be moving to contrib/modules/cre and contrib/modules/node_recommendation soon. Currently, I am working on adding views intergration. And I am creating a way for the module to be installed via cron for large votingapi datasets (and if i should do that). It takes awhile to install with large vote sets. Once installed, speed is not a problem.
