Dear Scott, if I'm understanding your question correctly, you're trying to get a set of checkboxes in an impementation of hook_settings to return an array containing only the selected elements? Greetings! This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to find any Drupal core example code that does what I need. In a module settings form, I have a "checkboxes" form element with a list of options of the format: array($short_name => $description, ...) The goal (which is being achieved at the HTML level) is to have code like this: <label class="option"><input type="checkbox" name="..." value="$short_name"/> $description</label> That's all working fine, and the returned values for checked boxes are as desired. I have no problem getting the FAPI to render and process the form correctly, but what's happening is that any *unchecked* boxes are being set to the value zero rather than being left unset. This is causing extra cruft in my database records because what I really want is just the list of shortnames of the checked values. I've been through the docs and examples, and looked at several parts of Drupal core, to see how to use #validate on a form, but is there a way to use it on just one form element and then *change* the value of that element by removing undesired parts? Or is that something I should do in #submit? Several parts of the docs have "almost" what I need, I think: http://drupal.org/node/51104 http://drupal.org/node/58689 One of the reasons this is so tricky is that the form element in question happens to be used in the module settings (where I don't have control over the processing) and also in the user preferences (where I also don't have control over the processing). I need to be able to hook in somewhere between when the browser sends via POST and when the module and user settings get stored. What's the correct approach (in general terms, not looking for someone to write the code for me) to do this? Thanks for any suggestions. please hold off creating DRUPAL-5-0 branches for a few days

hi folks, it looks fairly likely we're going to switch to 2-digit version numbers for core (http://drupal.org/node/85943) therefore, we're probably going to want to rename the existing "DRUPAL-5-0" branches to just "DRUPAL-5" and should start using "DRUPAL-5" for all newly ported modules. i have to confirm w/ dries and then get either himself or gerhard to change the CVS access control scripts to validate the new branch/tag names. in the meantime, please hold off on creating any DRUPAL-5-0 branches until further notice. every DRUPAL-5-0 tag created will make more work for us cvs admins... sorry for the transitional pains -- the end gain will be worth it. ;) thanks, -derek

Before SlashDot's redesign, the site was totally UGLY to me (well done to the designer(s) of the new theme!) as it was just too crowded, in spite of packing a ton of useful info. Personally, I think if the blue bar at the top is reduced, and the fluid width is implemented in Trae's version, then both Trae and Farsheed are on the right track. Slick is good. Proper way to programmatically modifying a CCK node's nodereference field in 4.7

I want to programmatically add related blog postings references to a CCK node's nodereference field called field_related_blog_posts. Would something like this be the proper way to do this in 4.7? useability issue : primary links

Can someone explain to me why it is so hard to enable primary links. In my eyes this is one of the most common things a person does when they first set up their site. The confusion between just enabling primary links, or enabling the primary links block and putting it in the header (which completely breaks if the theme , like most themes, wasn't built for it). Also. the 'wrong' way of enabling primary links is the first way you see to do it. I'm not even sure I agree with them being disabled by default to begin with. When they are enabled, at least they have a link stating 'add primary links here'

Responses were, so far: *) hook_signal *) hook_menu into more than menu (maybe) *) MVC / RoR routers (I can not care less) *) callbacks (please, not yet! One issue at one time) Some useful answers and my responses a) look at user_menu (newmenu.patch in my sandbox). I handle TRUE, FALSE, and complex stuff there, the latter with moving it to its own little helper functions. b) More than six parts will not work on neither end. The builder will not store more than six parts. The handler will make an argument out of the 7th and onwards. So, you need to write an ugly page controller if you really insist on more than six depth. But, if you ever do that please email me the site URL so I can keep away :P Could you all *PLEASE* peek in my sandbox, read the code (test.php menu_creator.php and newmenu.patch) and my post and react accordingly ON TOPIC?
