Hi there I am Vivek, I am currently pursuing my Btech from Indian Institute Of Technology Delhi. I am an entuhsiastic web developer. I have good knowledge of php, html,javascript and some css and i just love integrating all of these and getting new stuff out of it. I have worked on several content management systems like wordpress,drupal ,joomla,and dreamweaver and i was really thrilled to look at the ideas that people have proposed for improving drupal which is great and i would love to be a part of this project. I have always wanted to improve and learn as much as i can as far as my knowledge with web applications and algorithm designing is concerned. I would love to hear from you people. Thanks

Prevent sending emails with hook_mail_alter() in d6?

Hi all, i am looking for a clean way to prevent drupal 6 sending emails on my custom conditions. In drupal7 i can use hook_mail_alter() and set "send" parameter to false. Is there an workaround for that drupal6? thank you, Mario

Google Summer of Code 2012

Hi, I hope this is the right mailing list to discuss this. I am a student who would like to participate in the Google Summer of Code 2012 (GSOC 2012) program. I have good knowledge of Drupal and have experience in configuring Drupal for commercialized web platforms. The organization list hasn't been released yet, but I hope Drupal is participating again this year. Is there any GSOC 2012 idea list yet? Node reference in core?

Hello, all. This is Karl, aka Karlheinz, the developer for the Discogs module. I'm trying to work with Zirafa, author of the Pushtape module, to come up with a centralized discography framework for Drupal. (I'm also going to see if the Spotify module wants to get on board with this.) We have, however, run into a snag. His module is track-centered, whereas mine is album-centered. In order to have tracks and albums as separate nodes, we need to have some sort of reference to multiple track nodes from an album node. Furthermore, we also need the ability to add Track nodes as we are creating an Album node - that is, we need the ability to create multiple nodes, and their references, all from the single form used to create an album. What should NOT happen is that the user has to create each track individually before they create an album that has those tracks - this is a workflow nightmare. (And it's currently how Pushtape works.) There are currently three D7 modules used to create node references: References, Entity Reference, and Relation. References is the only one not currently in beta - and it's being depricated in favor of one of the other two. Furthermore, as far as I can tell, none of the above allow you to create the references unless the nodes already exist. I had hoped that the new Fields API in D7 would have included this functionality, but alas it was not the case. (I was actually very surprised at this; frankly, I believe it should have been in Drupal since day 1. A "node" is just a piece of information, after all, and there's a reason everyone uses a "relational" database for information.) So, I'm wondering if there isn't the possibility of moving this functionality into Drupal core. If not for D7 (which seems like a lost cause), then for D8 at the very least. In the meantime, is there any one of the three aforementioned node reference modules that the folks at Drupal core think is most promising? We absolutely, positively need this functionality, and we don't want to have to change dependencies - again - due to issues with third parties. p.s. I've been reading all the posts about re-purposing this list to include module developers. We've had this conversation before, but if it's being considered again, I am all for it. The support list is ABSOLUTELY NOT useful in any way for us, and there is currently NO appropriate mailing list for module developers to use. In the meantime, I've been using the Module Development and Code Questions section of the forum, when I need to.http://drupal.org/forum/4 -Karl.

URL function with i18n localization

Hi Guys, I'm using rate module for voting. When an anonymous user clicks on the voting widget, the user is redirected to a url "user/login-to-rate". I'm also using i18n for localization. The issue with both of these together is that when I'm on a page with the URL "en/my-url" and I click on the voting widget, I'm redirected to "de/user/login-to-rate" where "de" is my default language. Ideally the user should be going to "en/user/login-to-rate" i.e. user selected language should be respected. Going into details, I find that the rate module calls url function: print url('user/login-to-rate', array('query' => $query, 'absolute' => TRUE )); and here there is no language paramater that is passed which means the default site language gets selected. Am I missing something here in the configuration? Programmatically update allowed_html filter settings

Hi, The baseline module I'm developing needs to add the <span> tag to the allowed_html value for the filtered_html text filter when enabled. I've searched the core modules, the standard installation profile, Drupal.org and Google, but I haven't been able to find an example of the proper way to do this in a module.install's hook_enable(). I assume I should use filter_format_save() and tried the following: filter_format_save('filtered_html', 'filter_html', 1, 1, array( 'settings' => array( 'allowed_html' => '<a> <em> <strong> <cite> <blockquote> <code> <ul> <ol> <li> <dl> <dt> <dd> <span>' ) ) ); This resulted in "PDOException: SQLSTATE[23000]: Integrity constraint violation: 1048 Column 'format' cannot be null" which I don't understand because the first argument to filter_format_save() is the format. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Cameron

Getting uid of current profile page

115,000 records -- nodes or custom

Hi. I was hoping for some advice. I recently took over an existing Drupal site for a nonprofit. The client currently has a searchable database of a 115,000 records written in cold fusion in a separate database on a separate server. They would like me to bring it into their Drupal 6 site or at least onto the same server. I can do this in two ways: 1. As a custom module running off it's own db. 2. Or I can make it a content type and use Views for the interface. My preference is to just use CCK/Views for maximum flexibility -- but I question whether or not it's wise to add a 115k records to the node and other tables and what type of impact this might have on overall site performance. (Any other downsides?) Anyone have any advice/suggestions? If it was your project would you code it separately or use CCK/Views.
