Say Hello To My Little Friend (or How To Abandon a Module)

Hi, Sometimes modules get abandoned because they are no longer needed or no longer make sense. Features get added to core, CCK+Views come along and deprecate whole swaths of modules, etc. People need to know that a module has been abandoned, which is usually best communicated on the project node itself. But, if you've done that and want to make it more clear (and, maybe, stop getting contacted to help with the module) what can you do? http://drupal.org/user/291168 The "Abandoned Modules" user. He's too busy sunning himself in Antigua to care about his modules. He's unemployed and loving it. Give him your dead modules, won't you? If you are the author of a module and would like it to be assigned to this user and can't do it yourself, file an issue about it: http://drupal.org/project/issues/webmasters Note: except in rare situations, this is not for just modules that need a new maintainer. You should find that some other way. The "Abandoned Module" owner is like a graveyard. New "tests" component for Drupal project

As of this evening, there is now a "tests" component you can choose from when you create an issue for the Drupal project. There's also a "simpletest.module" component. How do they differ? * The "simpletest.module" component is for bugs/feature requests/etc. for SimpleTest module itself. Errors discovered in drupal_test_case.php API functions found while writing tests, improvements to SimpleTest module's UI or API, etc. are all good types of issues to file against this component. * The "tests" component is for the tests themselves (blahblah.test files). If you notice a test that's missing, or an existing test isn't passing, or if a big change went in and is awaiting a test to be written, this is the proper component to choose. If you're a newbie to testing, the "tests" queue at http://drupal.org/project/issues?projects=3060&components=tests&states=1,16… is a good link to follow; lots of these are pretty simple to write, and members of the "testing brigade" are more than happy to help people figure out how to do this stuff. If you're a newbie to contributing period, it's a great place to jump in with maximum karmatic benefit. ;) There are some in-progress starter docs and general discussion about testing over at http://groups.drupal.org/unit-testing which are worth a look if you'd like to jump in here. We could especially use someone who's a) new to SimpleTest/testing in general, and b) has some documentation skillz to help us whip the existing documentation into shape for other fellow new users. -Angie

hi all, how do you programmatically create cck node references? i've been going over the emails passed around earlier on this list regarding programmatic cck creation which have proved very helpful with node creation - but i just can't seem to figure out how to save node references correctly. any thoughts? thanks much, arthur
