New Drupal Logging to text file Module

And again... The company I work for bases all of our projects on the Drupal infratructure. The watchdog application simply doesn't work for us, so I'd created a module to log messages to file in the format: 00:00:58 [module::function_name][LOG_LEVEL]: Checking to see if user 0c2f977cc24e4e41d8cd6d9a4099ab0b is anonymous. We've decided that this is likely a worthwhile project to release to the community, so I am currently working on a release. Right now, I have a group of Log Levels (FATAL, ERROR, WARN, INFO, DEBUG, TRACE), one log type (DRUPAL_BASE) and the ability to add/configure more. The site admin can configure whether or not to turn on logging, a minimum log level to write out, where the log files should live, etc. I will send another message once the initial release is made, but wanted to gauge what people thought about this module. It's more of a developer's module, as it requires developers to add a hook, such as: drupal_log_to_file("MODULE_NAME::FUNCTION_NAME", "LOG_TYPE", LOG_LEVEL, "MESSAGE") into their code, in order for the system to log anything. With a jQuery snippet from cYu, I committed a quick hack to my sandbox to allow the headings on the access control page to follow down the page with the mouse in Drupal 4.7.x and 5.x. A much better implementation already exists in Drupal 6, so don't expect this to make it's way out of my sandbox and into a maintained module. http://cvs.drupal.org/viewvc.py/drupal/contributions/sandbox/deekayen/modul… for Drupal 4.7 you want README.txt rev 1.2 jquery-1.2.3.pack.js 1.1 theruns.js 1.1 theruns.module 1.2 Drupal 5 is the most recent revision of each file. Hi, Thanks for these new modules. They definitely seem useful. Based on the past year of data we get 4.1 new modules per day on Drupal.org If people want to know about all of them they can subscribe to http://drupal.org/taxonomy/term/14/0 If they want to know about the "important" ones they can subscribe to http://drupaldashboard.com/feed-item/43 I don't think announcing them on the Development list is a good idea in general. This sounds a lot like the syslog and/or trace and/or log4drupal functionality http://drupal.org/node/149341 http://drupal.org/project/trace http://www.johnandcailin.com/blog/cailin/log4drupal-logging-api-drupal As a module developer, I don't want to have to choose which one of these I support or (worse) include calls to all three. I'd rather see this project merged with those projects so we can have the "one true logging module" instead of "3 logging modules that do similar things and which in the end make life harder for developers and site admins". New Asterisk Call Detail Record (CDR) module

I've had a quick email chat with hunmonk about this a few weeks ago... Not sure if anyone's using Asterisk, and moreso Asterisk CDRs -> mySQL, but I'd been using Asterisk-Stat V2.0 for some time, and it's terribly outdated, so I'd decided to create a Drupal module to handle Asterisk CDRs. asteriskcdrs. The project can be found here: http://drupal.org/project/asteriskcdrs I've released a preliminary package, but if others are using the system, I would love to get some feedback on where to grow this module. For now, it mainly allows you to search call detail records and view details on each. I plan to add in reporting, and maybe graphing. It's a little bit finnicky in the setup now, so please let me know if folks run into setup issues, and I can walk you through anything that needs to be done (read: I had to hack in the ability to add an an auto-incrementing field to the CDR table, as Asterisk doesn't put one in there). Drupalcon video archiving

Sorry for the cross-posting (so don't reply), but I'm trying to help organize video and audio archiving at Drupalcon Boston, so everyone who can't make it can follow the action, and we can catch all the sessions we missed. Batch API Help (data import in phpBB2Drupal)

hi all I am the current maintainer for the phpbb2drupal module and am trying to get it to batch import data. First step: Import users. I have read the batch_example (http://drupal.org/node/180528 ), but I cannot make it work for this module. gearing up for a 6.0 RC4

Hey, >From the looks of the criticals queue, we need to push out an RC4 before the final release can be rolled. We fixed several critical issues in the last few days, and some are still to be fixed. The list is not too long, so please help test patches there: http://drupal.org/project/issues?projects=3060&categories=bug,task&prioriti… I also drafted an RC4 announcement for publication. If someone feels like making it better, hop to http://drupal.org/drupal-6.0-rc4 (only people with permission to edit unpublished full HTML nodes again). Ideally, RC4 could be out in around 8-9 hours today, but the critical bugs will define the exact schedule. It would be great to see a final 6.0 out early next week. Please help in the criticals queue to make this happen. Minor code tweaks might make the code look better, but in fact do not help the Drupal 6 release stabilize as much as the same time spent on the critical bugs. Thanks, Gabor

FAPI and _display hook

Maybe there is a clean way to recycle most of FAPI if you don't need to save anything in _submit but if you'd just like to produce some output based on form input? eg. you've 2 fields and the form "landing" page should display the product (the landing page may still be the form path itself). If there is such a technique that let you intercept $form_values and $form_id outside _submit _validate and display output accordingly I'd be glad to know. Otherwise I'd really enjoy to see a _display hook that in spite of showing the form or redirecting somewhere else would just have access to $form_id and $form_values as _validate and _submit but would output something else other than the form. -- Ivan Sergio Borgonovo http://www.webthatworks.it

override theme_maintenance_page

I have a client who's concerned with the content and appearance of pages when Drupal is unable to connect to the database. I agree with their concerns. Take for example, the "unable to select database" page. This shows the database host, database name, and database username used by the site. It also shows the Drupal logo instead of the customer's logo. None of these are things that the public should see, even in the case of a fatal error such as not connecting to the database. (Although I recognize these messages are appropriate when a user is an administrator installing Drupal or troubleshooting, so I don't suggest changing them by default.) On Drupal.org, there are variety of posts about how to override theme_maintenance_page(). The clean approaches do not work when the database cannot be reached (because the site's default theme is unknown, you can't override theme_maintenance_page the normal way). I'm thinking of following the example used by custom_url_rewrite. For those who don't know, the custom_url_rewrite() function can be defined in settings.php and if found, path.inc will make use of it. In my case, theme.inc's theme_maintenance_page would have code like: if (function_exists('custom_maintenance_page')) { $output = custom_maintenance_page($content, $messages, $partial); } else { // Current theme_maintenance_page goes here... } return $output; My questions for this list are: is this a reasonable approach and would a patch to this effect make it into core?
