theme/module name conflict

Hello all, I ran into a very awkward bug today. I created a module and a theme for a client, and naturally, this module contained customizations and the theme was a custom made theme. I named the module and the theme with the client's name. Let's say the client was named abc so I created an abc module and an abc theme. When I implemented the abc_block hook I was surprised to find that all blocks disappeared on all pages. Further investigation into the core and I found that the culprit was the call to theme('block') which mistakingly called abc_block thinking it was a theme override function (rather than the hook it was). I was wondering if this issue has been addressed before. I can think of three possible solutions: 1. Make it a standard that no theme and module should be named the same (weak solution) 2. Change all theme('block') calls to something else so no chance of conflict could occur 3. Change the hook name so that it won't conflict with the theme call 4. Any suggestions??? Either 2 or 3 seem good enough to solve the problem. But I thought I'd gouge some opinions before wasting time on a less-than-optimal patch. Thanks :-)

How can I customize user registration page?

Hi all, I'm trying to customize user registration page by profile module. But the fields I set by profile module are placed in another filedset, not the same fieldset email and password fields are placed in. How can I place them in the same fieldset ? to use hook_form_alter() ? Are there any functions like phptemplate_user_profile() to be overridden for user registration page style? Thank you, Huisi

The bigger picture for content translation in Drupal 6

Hi all, A short IRC conversation with kkaefer and some excessively long bathing (that is where I think through these complex issues, our water company being so grateful to Drupal for those excessive water bills :) resulted in some good ideas about dynamic string (menu items, taxonomy terms, user profile labels, etc) translation. It is basically a rehashing of the issues we are poking around for a few months now in the i18n working group, but hopefully some durable ideas are around here. http://groups.drupal.org/node/3772 We need every piece of criticism and comments there to get this done as soon as possible. Drupal 6 code freeze is approaching, and I hope we can ship a node translation engine and a generic dynamic translation engine for Drupal 6 in time, if we keep going without loosing pace. Why are nodes and the "other stuff" are different? By default, people would like to have their different language version nodes count visits uniquely, have revisions separately, support different permissions, have different authors, have different workflows, and so on. But by default, many people would not like to have taxonomy trees, menu trees, content types, user profile field labels, etc set up per language. That could result in inconsistent content types, user profiles and such, and is very cumbersome to set up. People turning to localizer from i18n module all tell these stories (although i18n provides optional dynamic string translation based solutions too, but they are optional, and somewhat hidden). Note that we are not wearing eye-shades, so we keep in mind that there are some use cases, where node translation should not be implemented with separate nodes (eg. simple polls), and there are valid use cases, when different menu or taxonomy term trees are required for sites. So although Drupal core is planned to provide some default, both translation methods will be replaceable by contrib modules, in case someone would like to have a more customized solution. Both node translation and dynamic string translation are in the pipe, and we need your opinion about these. Hi all, I need help with turning this query into something useful SELECT fid FROM {files} WHERE filepath LIKE 'files/%' LIMIT 1 if (count(db_fetch_object(db_query("SELECT fid FROM {files} WHERE filepath LIKE 'files/%' LIMIT 1"))) == 1) { The purpose is to determine if there is some files within the dir 'files' registered in the db.
