rawurlencode vs. urlencode in drupal_http_build_query and drupal_encode_path

Howdy folks. Due to some draconian anti-SQL injection filters in our firewall software, I'm exploring how a few things work with url building in Drupal 7 & 8. A particular firewall rule is rejecting %20and%20 which unfortunately comes up fairly often with searches and webform, because both urls for those get encoded in that way. Now, this filtering is not of course Drupal's problem, but in tracking this down, I found that basically, drupal_http_build_query and drupal_encode_path use rawurlencode and thus change spaces to %20. The space change and the lack of encoding the ~ seem to be the only difference between rawurlencode and urlencode in PHP. (further info here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/996139/php-urlencode-vs-rawurlencode ) Since drupal_http_build_query was introduced in D7 as was drupal_encode_path they both seem to have always used rawlurlencode, however the previous function for the latter was drupal_urlencode which was a wrapper for urlencode. Does anyone know why we switched to using rawurlencode instead of urlencode? Does anyone have thoughts on switching back to urlencode? I could just go file a feature request for this, but wanted to get a feel for the history and reasons for this change first. Thanks! Hi, I’m Nicole Haenni and I'm doing research for my thesis at the University of Berne (scg.unibe.ch) with Mircea Lungu and Niko Schwarz. We are researching on monitoring the activity in software ecosystems. This is a study about information needs that arise in such software ecosystems. I need your help to fill out the survey below. It takes about 10 minutes to complete it. A software ecosystem can be a project repository like GitHub, an open source community (e.g. the Apache community) or a language-based community (e.g. Smalltalk has Squeaksource, Ruby has Rubyforge). Hi, I am Tejas Nikumbh, an undergrad at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. I will be participating in GSoC this year. [GSoC 2013]. In order to imporve my chances for getting selected this year, I would like to start contributing early on to Open Source development via Drupal. Here's a little background info : *Languages proficient in : *Java<https://moodle.org/mod/glossary/showentry.php?courseid=5&eid=24&displayform…>, Python, Javascript<https://moodle.org/mod/glossary/showentry.php?courseid=5&eid=25&displayform…> [+jQuery] , HTML[+HTML5 Canvas], CSS<https://moodle.org/mod/glossary/showentry.php?courseid=5&eid=13&displayform…> [+CSS3]. C++ should be on the list soon. *CS Theory :* Discrete Math, Probablity and Random Processes, Data Structures and Algorithms. *SVN : *Github, Mercurial . *Basic Machine learning [Regression algos and some classification algos]* Based on the above info, are there any projects at Drupal which might suit me? hook_schema results in errors
