hackathon on the 23th?

Hi, It seems we could hire http://www.rentbydays.com/apart_detalle.php?lang=1&id=3 for a day for 300EUR. The NowPublic team moves in 17th, out 23th and I thought that we could maybe hack around on the 23 (+ into the night to 24th)? The place is huge... though not chairs and tables but I remember hacking at Eaton/Robert's room in Sunnyvale for example, dunno how many of us were there 7-8 maybe. Beds, floor... I would not be surprised if this place could hold 40 people -- there is a nice patio, too. So, who is interested, costs would be split up evenly? There are two things that can make this not happen: - I am still waiting to get Internet connection confirmed - If there are too few people (less than ten, I guess) Regards, NK

Simpletest automator

Hello world, I am very proud to announce the simpletest automator project. A module that helps you writing simpletests -- you just click-click-click and the test is recorded. Of course, the results need quite some love, but it's much better than starting from scratch. http://drupal.org/project/simpletest_automator Here is the README.txt: This module helps in creating simpletests. Here is what the module does: * lets you create a user with given permissions. * switches you over to be that user * records the pages you visit * saves form submissions into a file * adds assertions made from the content of the result -- not the blocks, just the content itself. Of course, the results are crude and the test name at this moment is wired in. But, the day is not over yet :) Regards, NK

DAST 5.x-2.0 released

Hi all, I'd like to announce The 5.x-2.0 release of the Drupal Automated Staging Toolkit http://drupal.org/project/DAST. This toolkit contains the core Phing build files and types that allow you to automate the tasks of setting up a Drupal site - 1. Getting the Drupal core and module code either from CVS or a local directory or tarball 2. Applying a patch to the site, fetched from from a local file or an HTTP URL 3. Creating the MySQL database and writing configuration directives to Apache, MySQL, and PHP configuration files 4. Fetching and running an installation profile so the site is ready-to-use as soon as the build completes. I'd encourage everybody interested in automating Drupal setups for testing to download the current release and have a look at the drupalorg_testing-site project - this is a build project which creates a complete working d.o clone using the drupalorg_testing profile. update.php and postgres 7.4

update.php from D5 to head doesn't work on pg7.4 - because you can't add constraints or default in the same statement as column add. Sure, it can be patched (and i've got one i'll submit) but how does the project fee about dropping old 7.4 and requiring pg8.0? If not for D6 then at least D7. It's an easy upgrade path, and 8 is in most distros (i dunno about redhat)

Drupal Dojo looking for a teacher

The Drupal Dojo is having a lesson tommorow, but no topic and no teacher! We're at http://groups.drupal.org/drupal-dojo. The Drupal Dojo is a group focused on teaching people about Drupal. Every Sunday, we bring in an experienced Drupaler to give a presentation using a VNC (where their screen is broadcast live), TeamSpeak, so we can hear them explain things as they go, and IRC, for questions. Often there's so much Drupal content out there, be it in the API or the handbook, that it's very difficult to know where to start looking – the dojo session helps break it down into manageable chunks. And when the teachers hit problems, we can see them debug their code live, helping us understand the debug techniques that are so instinctive to some and so obscure to the rest of us. We've had some important members of the drupal community explain the modules hey've built – we had chx, writer of the new hook_menu and much of forms api give a presentation on the forms api. We've had the writer of views, merlinofchaos, give a session, and we've had (Kreynen), one of the major contributors to the tinyMCE module explain the new version in detail. If you listen to the Lullabot podcasts, they interviewed the dojo creator Josh Koenig about it, and they were really positive about it. And although we're focusing on learning, we also do end up having a lot of fun – in times of the irc channels, we're a social gathering point between #drupal-support and #drupal itself. We hang out, we share work, we learn! Our idea would be debugging, but it can be anything you want. If you are going to teach (please please do :D ), they come on in to irc://irc.freenode.net/drupal-dojo, type "ping dmitrig01" and I'll help you get set up. One last thing, our lessons happen at 11:00AM PDT. And this is definitely not sharp. We do it any time you can. We've done lessons at 10:00, 2:00PM...
