Custom validation function for Block configuration form?
by Travis Lu 17 Mar '08

17 Mar '08

Hi all, I've just created my own block module, and a configuration form for it. Now I just wonder whether it is possible to add my own validation function before Drupal save the block configuration? I tried to add the code like: $form[#validate][] = 'my_validation_function_name'; But it seems it doesn't help. So the question is whether Drupal support to do this during the configuration of block. If so, then how I can achieve this? Thanks in advance. travis

I think it's brilliant and I hope to see something like that implemented in the DOWNLOAD MODULES page. That's all :) / liza Liza Sabater, Publisher www.culturekitchen.com www.dailygotham.com MOB - 646.552.7365 AIM - cultkitdiva

CCK lookup and drop-down list
by Sean Wingert 15 Mar '08

15 Mar '08

I am comfortable with PHP and MySQL, but I'm new to Drupal, though I've just finished all chapters from Pro Drupal Development (VandDyk and Westgate). I need to create a form which populates a drop-down list from a column in a table, like Apples, Bananas, Pears. Should I create a .module, or am I overlooking a CCK extension module and/or Views approach? Thanks!

Locking menu items?
by Neil Goodman 14 Mar '08

14 Mar '08

Hello, I am developing a drop-down menu system for a site using Drupal and jQuery. There are several "top level" links in the Drupal menu that I am using that I want to "lock" so that users that edit the menu can not delete, disable, or edit them, but can still add child links to them. Is there a way to do this?

Re: [development] releases, recommended/supported changing automatically on release creation...
by Darrel O'Pry 14 Mar '08

So today I'm humming a long and create a new RC for imagefield 2.3.. I go back to the project page, and wow the RC is the recommended and supported version listed there... Totally not cool! How many people are going to that when they should be using the 2.2 release, thanks to update_status.module. I think it is really bad to automatically change these flags on maintainers. I think it should be left to the maintainer to decide when a release is recommended or supported. .darrel.

Where are release problems properly routed to?
by David Metzler 13 Mar '08

13 Mar '08

Newly created releases aren't showing up for one of my projects. I sent a message to the CVS contact form, but maybe this wasn't the right place. Should these be sent to the CVS contact form? The infrastructure forum? The project project issue queue? Derek's cell phone? (just kidding) Someplace else? Sorry for the ignorance.... Dave

Modify Views CSV Export
by Marolijo - Pol maresma 13 Mar '08

Hello, I need to modify this function to allow it to export imagefield as a full path, not full <img src=> tag. How can I filter the imagefield fields to do something like If (fieldtype=imagefield){ $value = $field ['filepath'] }else{ ... } Thank's!!! //////////////////////////////////// foreach ($nodes as $node) { $values = array(); foreach ($view->field as $field) { if ($fields[$field['id']]['visible'] !== false) { $value = views_theme_field('views_handle_field', $field['queryname'], $fields, $field, $node, $view); $value = preg_replace('/<\/?(a|span|li|ul|div) ?.*?>/', '', $value); // strip 'a' and 'span' tags $value = str_replace(array("\r", "\n", ','), ' ', $value); // strip line breaks and commas $value = str_replace('"', '""', $value); // escape " characters $value = decode_entities($value); $values[] = '"' . $value . '"'; } } $output .= implode(',', $values) . "\r\n"; } Pol Maresma / pol(a)polnetwork.com PolNetwork.com / Serveis d'Internet msn: marolijo

DB best pratices, improving portability, MySQL ANSI mode
by Ivan Sergio Borgonovo 13 Mar '08

I just came across this: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/faqs-sql-modes.html http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-sql-mode.html setting mode to ANSI should help to debug the code and improve portability to other DB even if I've heard that the ANSI mode is not as strict as you'd expect. I remember a similar proposal for increasing the "strictness" of PHP setting and verbose error reporting before committing to core. -- Ivan Sergio Borgonovo http://www.webthatworks.it

drop tasks for Drupal students
by Kristof Van Tomme 13 Mar '08

13 Mar '08

Later this week I'm holding a Drupal introductory class at the university of Szeged, Hungary. I would like to show the students how easy it is to become part of the Drupal community. That's why I thought that besides the not-for-profit Drupal project they have to do for the course, I would ask students to get at least 5 DROP points as a condition for succeeding with the course. Do you think this is a good idea? If I do this I will need lots of DROP tasks cause I'll have something between 30 and 50 students. So if you have any bitesize tasks a newbie can handle, please add them at http://drop.cwgordon.com

Automatic event promotion . . .
by Jason Flatt 13 Mar '08

13 Mar '08

I have a need for a particular functionality, and before I go and create a module to do it, I thought I'd check to see if anyone else is already doing it. What I want is to have all my event node (or maybe some subset) automatically promoted to the front page for some specified period of time before the event takes place and then to automatically be unpromoted after the event is over. I didn't see any module that provided that functionality on d.o. Is that something anyone is currently working on? -- Jason Flatt http://www.oadaeh.net/ Father of Six: http://www.flattfamily.com/ (Joseph, 15; Cramer, 13; Travis, 11; Angela; Harry, 7; and William, 2) Linux User: http://www.kubuntu.org/ Drupal Fanatic: http://drupal.org/
