Using drupal_execute

I can't get this form to programatically display (not part of any callback) and wait for a submission. I call it, and it fires the function that creates the form array, but I never see the form unless I put 'exit' after it. When using drupal_execute, is the 'values' array of $form_state required, with each field named? My $form_state array is empty. I didn't think I needed the enumerated 'values' array because I assumed (yes, I know...) that the #default entries in the form elements accomplish what I need.

unable to change ahah property of submit button on form rebuild

Hi, I was working on this module where I needed to change the submit actions of a submit button, after the submit action of another button. Let us say, I have two submit buttons, sb1 and sb2: $form['sb1'] = array( '#type' => 'submit', '#value' => t('sb1'), '#submit' => array('test_module_sb1_submit'), ); $form['sb2'] = array( '#type' => 'submit', '#value' => t('sb2'), '#submit' => array('test_module_sb2_submit'), ); $form['sb2']['#ahah'] = array( 'path' => 'test_module/js', 'wrapper' => 'test_module_replace', 'effect' => 'fade', ); Now when sb1 is submitted and form is rebuild, I am changing the submit actions of sb2 to these, $form['sb2'] = array( '#type' => 'submit', '#value' => t('sb2'), '#submit' => array('test_module_sb2_change_submit'), ); $form['sb2']['#ahah'] = array( 'path' => 'test_module_change/js', 'wrapper' => 'test_module_replace', 'effect' => 'fade', ); The submit function is successfully changed to 'test_module_sb2_change_submit', but the '#ahah' property of 'sb2' remains the same. Is this the expected behavior or a bug? I could not find any documentation on this. How this can be achieved? How this can be achieved if the first button 'sb1' is also 'ahah' processed? Controlling login/logout in a menu

I'm using the secondary menu to put a few links at the top right of the screen. Among them should be login (if not already) and logout (if logged in). Adding them to the menu is, of course, not an issue, but how would I control their appearing or not based on whether the user is logged in? I was going to use hook_menu_alter, but for some odd reason it doesn't fire when I'm not on an admin page. Something tells me this is going to be a forehead slapping moment, it seems so trivial, but it's eluding me.

I wrote this issue this afternoon: http://drupal.org/node/608812 I marked it for D8... however, is this still a change that can be made in D7 at this point, or is the time past for that? Being a performance issue, it's something I would like to see sooner rather than later if possible. Brian

views attachment and pager

Hi there, anyone know how I can make a views attachment follow the pager of the page it's attached to ? My attachment is a gmap and supposed to show the same nodes as in the page view (but on map ..). This works for the 10 first results, but once going into the pager, the gmap stays on the first 10 results (FYI setting the display to HTML list has the same problem). I can't find any settings in the views ui and I was partially successful by using a views hook and setting current_page = $_GET['page'], but it's not perfect. What I'm thinking now is take all the paging code from view::execute and integrate it in my hook, but before doing that I was wondering if there are any better approaches. Tnx, HnLn

Developing for Drupal 7

I'm going to be able to not do much paid work over the next few months, so I thought I'd work pretty much full time on improving my Drupal skills. After chatting to one developer I've come to the conclusion that the best way I can spend my time is by learning Drupal core, and that the best way to learn Drupal core is to write and review patches for Drupal 7, pretty much full time. I've put Drupal sites together before and written modules, but as I've not had much to do with Drupal's core code before I don't know where to start with working on it. At the moment I can find very simple issues and patches which I am able to work on, but I don't seem to be learning much while I'm working on them. On the other hand, many of the issues and patches are beyond my reach, simply because I don't know how Drupal hangs together. So, can anyone provide me with a framework of how Drupal core works that will help me get started on more complex and rewarding patches, or should I just keep plugging away semi-randomly at the issue queues and learn more or less organically?

Convention for naming contrib hooks?

Hi- Forgive me if this question is answered elsewhere- I've not found a comprehensive answer thus far. With contrib modules sprawling ever more, it's extremely hard to keep track of what modules implement what kinds of hooks. For example, I got caught by file_field's hook_file_delete() when I implemented media_mover_api_file_delete() which had nothing to do with this hook. While I renamed my function, it's challenging at best to know the terrain. Is there a central place where contrib developers can list their hooks, or a naming convention that is agreed to that would help with this (eg: hook_HOOKNAME_HOOKMODULE() or something)? thanks, arthur

Module compatibility/interoperability problem

Hi List, the scheduler module uses date_popup for letting the user choose date and time for scheduled publishing of nodes, if it is installed. This causes a problem with the multistep module. With this module you can divide the node form into multiple steps like a "node wizard". date_popup transforms its two fields (date and time) into one field during validation (?) since the date_popup widget is virtually one field. If the scheduler field group is not part of the first multistep step then there has not been any validation for the scheduler/date_popup fields and therefore the publish_on field is still an array of two (empty) values instead of a single value. This confuses the schedulers validation logic, because it expects either an empty string or a propperly formatted string but not an array. To fix this I could check if it is an array and let it pass on validation. That would be rather easy and straitforward. But I do not like the idea of littering scheduler with code that circumvents problems with a non-core module that is not even used by scheduler itself. This would also introduce a nasty dependency on multisteps (form handling) behaviour. That would be fine, if scheduler did actually use multistep functionality (as it is using date_popups functionality), but it does not. I do not like that and I don't think this is a good thing to do. What do you think. What should I do? How can this problem be resolved in a nice and clean way? Regards, Eric

translatability of node type information in drupal 6

I am re-rolling or creating a few issues/patches for various contrib modules, that introduces a wrapper function to translate node type information. The issue is that variables should not be translated with the use of the t() function, so one method to allow variables to be translated is with the use of i18n module, as outlined by Nedjo http://drupal.org/node/304002 I am in the process of adding a few more issues/patches, and wanted to touch base with other developers to find out how they handle translating custom data / variables in drupal 6.
