HTTP headers to get the head of the page

Hi, I am currently using curl (CURLOPT_NOBODY) to exclude the body and to just get the headers returned by the sever for a http request. I am specifically interested in the return status code and the content length. Can I do it using drupal_http_request? Problem with Flash connection

Hello all, I've a problem with connection between my flash application and drupal. I've only received this error in flash's console: 106 Unknown error type D:\UniServer\www\flash\sites\all\modules\services\servers\amfphp\amfphp.module AMFPHP_RUNTIME_ERROR I've enabled this modules: Services, Key Authentication, AMFPHP, Node Service and System Service. Consolidating duplicate contrib modules for D7

I know the whole 'duplication in contrib' issue has been discussed to death on this list, so I will try to keep this short. Obviously, the duplication in contrib is something we are working hard as a community to avoid. Nevertheless, in some cases, duplication has still crept in, and this leads to a poorer user experience, and user confusion. One prime example is the node access modules, which all perform nearly identical functions with more or less polish: Node Access: http://drupal.org/project/node_access Nodeaccess: http://drupal.org/project/nodeaccess Content Access: http://drupal.org/project/content_access Now, is there anything we as a community can do to clean up this sort of issue in contrib? I realize that in individual cases, the best policy is to post in the issue queues for the individual projects, but on a larger scale, is it worth starting something along the lines of #D7CX to consolidate the dupes in the name of a better user experience?

Granular Permissions for Administer Content Types

Anyone know of a module that adds granual permissions to "administer content-types"? I'm looking for * create content-type * administer own content-type If the module does't aleady exist... I'm wondering about approaches in making it. It seems like simply adding a contenttype-user table is the key first step. But I don't know a lot about Drupal's access control system. Ideas? finding time zone name string

I need to write some code which will produce the user's desired time zone string (e.g. "Europe/Paris", "America/Chicago", etc.) using Drupal 6. Drupal 6 core only stores the user's time zone as minutes offset from GMT, and likewise stores minutes offsets from GMT for the site default time zone. Using the popular contrib date module adds a timezone field to the {users} table as well as another variable in the {variable} table with the string I need, but of course, this module is not always present. The most direct way to convert the minute offset to the standardized string is using the PHP 5.1.3 and later function timezone_name_from_abbr(). [despite its horribly wrong design :-) ] My questions are: 1. Is there an existing function or functions in Drupal core, or more likely the contrib date module, I should be calling to do this? I'm thinking I will do an existence check for the date module, and code differently if it is enabled and in use, for example. 2. What if neither the user nor the site has a time zone set? It appears not setting a time zone for a site explicitly defaults to GMT, since the default minute offset in the most of the variable_get() calls is zero, hence GMT. 3. Should I bother to code a check for PHP version, and try to implement a replacement for timezone_name_from_abbr() if PHP is less than 5.1.3? Thanks. ..chris

Any Postgres users - help needed!

Hi all. I am sure many of you are familiar (and affected by) the issues with db_rewrite_sql() and DISTINCT in D6 as described in this issue (http://drupal.org/node/284392) A benoitg posted a patch (http://drupal.org/node/284392#comment-2340722) that seems to fix it on MySQL, and potentially does it on Postgres as well. However, since there is a shortage of Postgres testers floating around, I am hoping to be a little proactive and reach out for one, since this is a high priority issue that is affecting a fair number of D6 sites. It would really be appreciated if someone with a postgres environment and a few minutes to spare could test out this patch, and confirm if it fixes the issue. Thanks! Brian

alter theme registry, but only for some themes. possible?

I have some modules that alter the theme registry. In practice, I could limit these alterations to only some themes. On a site with multiple themes, my modules might need to alter only one or two. However, I can't figure a way in code to determine which themes might need these alterations. Ideally, I could allow the administrator to select one or more themes which will be used. Either by selecting the themes in a form, or possibly by adding something to the theme's .info file. Is such a thing possible. In particular, how can I ensure that the theme registry will be rebuilt after the administrator submits my form or edits the .info file? Is there a best practice along these lines? -Dave P.S. too bad drupal doesn't support post-process functions in theme...

Insert users from script?

Hi all I have data for several persons in an excel file and i would like to convert all of these people in users in my drupal 6. Somebody knows how can i do this? The idea is that not to have to create the users one by one, maybe i would have to make an sql script to include the users in one time, but i don't know in which tables I have to include the data and some other things for example, how have i to set the password? combo box

Hi. I have a new site to do, and (so far) there are 3 things I haven't done before in Drupal. I'll make each a different message so the thread doesn't get confused. The first one is what is/used-to-be? called a combo box. That is, a select box that also allows one to type in an entry if none of the options will do. In terms of the operation of a normal combo, the issue is that while I can put a text box above a select, and when submitted, take the selected option, if one, or the text box contents, if any, normally a combo will take an option selection and deposit that text in the text-box portion, in case you want to edit it.

Edit restriction

The last interesting requirement is sort of like creating a new post in a forum, in that the node, once created, can be edited, based on permissions, like normal, but only for an amount of time selectable (globally) in the admin panel. So the user who creates the node can edit it for 12 hours, after which the ability to edit it goes away.
