Hi all- Just wanted to let everyone know that students officially began submitting applications to participate in the Summer of Code this past week. In order to insure we get the highest quality students, and the best projects, it would be great if you could give a spend a few minutes of your time reviewing and commenting on ideas. Path Redirect Location Storage

I've been working with a UC module that forces the user to either log in or create a new account before being able to purchase a product. The idea is that once the user has logged in or created the account, they will be redirected back to the node being purchased (a class registration in this case). The way the module is trying to do it is by storing the current location in a $_SESSION variable, calling drupal_goto(), and in hook_form_alter(), changing the $form['#redirect'] property to the saved location. The problem is, the $_SESSION array gets wiped out at the end of drupal_goto() after the header is sent to the browser, so when the portion of hook_form_alter that will set $form['#redirect'] back to the saved location is called, the variable is gone, so the user is left at their profile screen instead of being redirected. I made a modification to pass the current location (before being directed to /user) to drupal_goto() as the $query parameter (see drupal.org/node/409134) That works fine, as long as the user logs in. However, if the user needs to create a new account, they click on the "Create New Account" link (which goes to /user/register), and the destination parameter is lost from the URL. The data is saved to the session table, so I could query the session table with the session ID to get the URL, but seems sort of messy. So, can anyone give me an idea of the best way to store the URL so that the user can be redirected back to where they came from when they are forced to create a new account? Thanks. Steve

PHP checkstyle

Hi list, After searching google for 1 hr I am still unable to find an equivalent for java checkstyle for PHP which would play nice with eclipse. I could find this http://developer.spikesource.com/wiki/index.php?title=Projects:phpcheckstyl… one abandoned project with no releases on sourceforge. Does anyone know of checkstyle eclipse plugin for PHP (doesnt need to be all featureful). Also how do you manage this kind of task? global $user unavaialable?

I'm working on implementing a new cas_server module that allows drupal accounts to be used as a single - sign on source. I have a drupal 5 site issues a redirect to a drupal 6 site, and when I redirect to that page I don't find that the $user global is populated. Is there some function or include that I should b calling to make sure that this data is there? Code snippet that isn't returning correct data. global $user if ($user->uid) { drupal_set_message('user logged in'); } else { drupal_set_message('User not logged in'); } Note that if I click on any other link in the drupal page. I show as being logged in, but the redirect to this page does not load the $user variable. Developing against drupal 6.10

private areas inside Organic Groups

I am developing a module to enable private sections inside any organic group. The idea is to be able to create a group and define areas like "paper administration", "human resources", etc... I have created a module to create and a block to choose be able to define "staff roles" inside a OG, so now when a user create a node and have a "staff role" activated, that role should only be visible for users inside this group and with the "staff role" activated. I supose I can achieve this using hook_node_grants and hook_node_access_records, but I don't get how, could anybody give me a hint? Announcing DRUPAL-7-0-UNSTABLE-6

Hey there, Drupal people! Time for the monthly unstable release! Lots of goodies this time... For module developers who wish to get a jump on upgrading their modules to Drupal 7 ahead of time, check out http://drupal.org/node/224333 for a list of API changes. Remember: there are only 165 days left until code freeze, when we must cease and desist all world domination plans until Drupal 8! http://drupal.org/community-initiatives/drupal-core has a nice list of all the current initiatives going on (feel free to add your own as well!). If you're looking for the places to make the biggest splash, those are them. :) Or, if you're just getting your feet wet with patching and want something a bit easier to cut your teeth on, try tackling one of the issues listed at http://drupal.org/patch/novice ! Friendly volunteers are always available in #drupal in irc.freenode.net to offer assistance. With that out of the way, here are some of the highlights of DRUPAL-7-0-UNSTABLE-6 (full release notes attached at the end). - In JavaScript-y news, Drupal 7 now comes with jQuery 1.3.2 and jQuery Forms 2.21. it's also now possible to use jQuery alongside other JS libraries (Prototype, etc.)! This requires a small change to your JS code that you can do even now in Drupal 6 as a best practice. See http://drupal.org/node/224333#javascript_compatibility for more details. You can also now reference external JS files from drupal_add_js() rather than having to do silly workarounds with drupal_set_html_head(). Yay for consistency! - Massive re-working of image handling libraries (basically ImageAPI in core), which gives us important groundwork towards ImageCache in core http://drupal.org/node/371374 and even possibly ImageField in core. OoOoOoo... :) - The new database system (DBTNG) now supports pager and tablesort queries via "extenders," which means that we can now work on converting pretty much all of Drupal core queries to DBTNG. Feel free to pick off an issue from http://drupal.org/project/issues/3060/term/ 131 if you'd like to get a head start on learning this essential part of Drupal. - For designers, lots of exciting news! First, page.tpl.php now has some nice, cleaner markup to make it easier for CSS designers to jump in and start theming without any PHP knowledge. w00t! Next up: node.tpl.php: http://drupal.org/node/382870. Also, our aging, ugly pals Bluemarine, Chameleon, and Pushbutton have been retired from core so they no longer offend designers new to Drupal and make them think that apart from Garland, all Drupal can ever be is ugly and non- standards compliant. ;) Hooray! Thanks to JohnAlbin, who took a hit for the team, they're still in contrib if anyone needs them. :) - Drupal 6 -> Drupal 7 core upgrades should actually work now without any manual monkeying with settings.php! :) Yay! - A new filter was added which will let you post a link to <a href="[internal:node/123]">About Us</a> and automatically figure out the right path. -Angie

Forms API

I'm trying to write a new module, and having some trouble with the forms API. I'm deploying this under Drupal 5. I've been reading the tutorials and documentation for the forms API. A lot of this module is cut and paste from the documentation. I'm able to generate a form properly, and even theme it. It displays properly in my browser. However, when I submit the form, the _submit function isn't called. The code is here: http://phantom.dragonsdawn.net/~gordon/customerportal.module The browser sends the form data via POST, and the web server responds with "200 OK", sending back the form HTML. It doesn't log any errors. I have no idea how to go about debugging Drupal to determine why the _submit function isn't being called. Can anyone give me some pointers?
