multisite installation

Hello all, I've setup a multisite installation in this form: a.example.com b.example.com c.abc.com -> a.example.com d.abc.com -> b.example.com e.abc.com -> a.example.com etc.... I noticed that the only thing I change in the settings.php file is the connection string and filepath, so I created one folder: abc.com That gets all the requests. The only problem is that I need the themes/modules folder to be a.example.com/themes when we're accessing c or e.abc.com and b.example.com/themes when accessing d.abc.com, clearly, abc.com can only point to either a.example.com or b.example.com, when accessing c.abc.com I want to see a.example.com's themes and modules, when accessing d.abc.com I want to see b.example.com's themes and modules. With one symbolic link called abc.com I can't do that. You might say, why not just leave the three symbolic links c,d & e rather than trying to save on symbolic links. The reason is that *.abc.com will number in thousands and even millions and I don't want to create a million symbolic links. It seems the fix for this would be to somehow specify in abc.com the modules and themes folders manually rather than it being auto-detected by Drupal. The alternative would be a solution at the OS level that I personally have no idea exists. I hope I did a good job of clarifying this. Is it doable? If not, where should I start thinking of creating a patch? Any pointers/ideas appreciated. -- AA

Multiple search blocks doing different searches.

Hi, My goal is to set up a tabbed search block which I'll use Quick Tabs to build, where each tab will prime the search with a keyword. The step before this though is to have multiple blocks that do slightly different searches. Defining the blocks is easy enough but I can't use hook_db_rewrite_sql (an example from searching at [1]) as I don't know what block is calling it. Is there some easy way or trick around this or do I just have to manually call do_search, or write my own search, for each block? Drupal 7 has weird fatal error with fastcgi and xcache

So I've been trying this for a couple days now and I get this error: Fatal error: Cannot redeclare field_flush_caches() in /../d7/modules/field/field.module on line 134 It only happens when using fastcgi and xcache. xcache and mod_php have no problem and fastcgi without xcache is also fine. It seems to be related to the autoload functions but I can't for the life of me figure out why. Google has been very little help either. Anyone have any idea what's going on here? bug in xcache?

Consulting about speciall permission configuration

Hi all: I've created in my site a speciall user wich has a particular "role" Admin2. I have gave some speciall administrative permisions to him. in my site I have to activate the new accounts, and i need to give this permission to this user but I don't want to give him all the users administration permissions, only the hability to block and unblock user acounts, of course not the superadministrator user account. Good practice for module development

Automatic linking to module under "Create content"

Hello Everyone, I've been really impressed with the speed and functionality of the autocomplete functionality on api.drupal.org--nicely done! I looked but could not find any details on how it was customized, for example so that the first suggestion in the "dropdown" is automatically selected. Altering an RSS Feed

My customer doesn't like the way the RSS feeds look. For example, on a taxonomy feed, they want to see the term description rather than the term name. And for blogs, they want to see RealName rather than userid. I am still looking, but am at a loss so far as to how to change these titles. Does anyone have a good idea? (Yes, I know how to code.
