Automated patch testing, phase 1

ok, folks -- after a long development period, we are very, very close to having automated patch testing working on drupal.org! here's the current status: the platform which sends and receives file tests and results is installed and running on drupal.org. files are being sent to the testbed server for testing, but the results are not being returned or displayed on drupal.org yet. this interim phase will allow us to work out any remaining kinks in the file testing platform. so, in short, here's what you need to know to help! 1. only patches against drupal core (4.7.x, 5.x, and 6.x) are being processed for testing at this time. contrib patches may or may not be added at a later time 2. in order for a patch to be sent for testing, it must meet the following 2 criteria: a. the filename ends in .patch or .diff b. the issue the file is attached to has a status of 'code needs review' or 'ready to be committed' again, for now, no results will be returned or displayed on drupal.org. for those interested in the nuts and bolts of this system, and/or who'd like to help with it's further development/implementation: the platform for sending/receiving files: http://drupal.org/project/project_issue_file_test the site that handles the automated testing: http://testing.drupal.org/

Weight values function?

Hi, I know that nobody tested trigger.module as a user not being uid 1 because a severe menu bug introduced on May 16 (aka before the commit of actions) made all actions admin pages inaccessible for anyone but uid 1. I could apologize for this mistake but I won't. Instead I am glad that this brightly reveals some inefficiency of our testing. To correct that, I would like to ask for a serious push on simpletests. This bug was revealed by cwgordon7, a GHOP student while working on those. I am going to work on http://drupal.org/project/simpletest_automator more during the next two days making it even easier to create tests. If anyone needs a site to play with the automator and churn out tests, let me know. We are in an interesting position: very soon we will run out of critical bugs (thanks god!) but we can't release because there is no Views module and drupal.org is not updated. Let's use this time to cover core with simpletests and make Drupal 6 the best release ever. The angel of Drupal testing (aka webchick) posted http://groups.drupal.org/node/5974 this fantastic list for us. So... it's season for testing. In the past, I wanted to ask Dries to introduce this season. Instead, I would like to ask everyone to ask from her/himself as I did "oh my god, what else could be there" and then join the simpletest writing crowd. Regards, Karoly Negyesi

tablesort_sql . . .

I've been wrestling with this function off and on for several days now and finally decided to ask for some help from this list. greggles helped a bit on IRC, but I still wasn't able to do all I wanted. What I want to do is to be able to display a table that has the initial sort on a column other than the first. I have tried various things with this function, and either I'm just not getting it, or the function (nor related functions) doesn't support that functionality. upgrade jquery in D5

Hi, Drupal 5.5 comes with jQuery version 1.2.1 I've already saw several threads on drupal.org about upgrading jQuery to a most recent version for D5. I would like to know what is the best method to acomplish this update, and why D5 can't have an updated jQuery version in the core. Thanks.

hook_form() and multistep

Hello All, I'm attempting to make a multistep node submission form in D5 All the examples using #multistep I find assume the form is being rendered by drupal_render_form(), which passes the form values as the 2nd argument. These form values can contain the step number that is used to decide which form fields to render, and what to validate/submit. In my case, however, it's a node submission form .. hook_form() is being used (not drupal_render_form()). hook_form() gets passed the node object, but not the form values. As a result, I'm not able to determine what step I'm on. I'm assuming it's possible to make a multistep node submission form. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Ryan

help with input user field development / module

Hi everybody, i need to develop a module that simply accepts an input user, say for example a currency conversion. I need to use this data to make a conversion in views module. I have a type of content with a field named price. The user inserts a new page of this type of content and fills the price. The final objective is to be able to get from views the conversion ratio to apply the needed conversions and show the price in 2 different currencys. I don´t need to use an ecommerce module because the web is much more symple than this. I also don´t know if that is the best or simplier solution.
