Multilingual support

Hi. I'm the author of Localizer, a module alternative to Internationalization, that adds multilingual support to Drupal. I had joined also the mailing list activated by DevelopmentSeed : http://devseeddev.com/pipermail/internationalization_devseeddev.com/ But, unfortunately, it seems to me that there is not much activity on these communications channels. Reading this post http://groups.drupal.org/node/2781 and taking a look at the Subversion repository here : http://svn3.cvsdude.com/devseed/sandbox it seems to me that some crucial decisions about multingual support in Drupal are already taken, or am I wrong ? For example, if I understand correctly, taxonomy translations will be implemented duplicating the trees, variables will be duplicated in their own table adding a language attribute. Well, I would like to know what is, if exists, the list of features that will be implemented in Drupal 6 to achieve multilingual support, and also the technical solutions that could be adopted. For example, if the variables translation mechanism is definitive, we could think to use it soon, without working now on a different solution that could be abandoned in the next months. For taxonomy we could already port the new patches for the translation, and so on. I'm asking this because I would like, if possible, to avoid duplicating work and to be able to prepare a migration path for the users of Localizer when multilingual support will be in the core, probably, in the next release. As you can see in the issue lists of Localizer, we are working hard and there are some good requests by the users. I wonder if something of all this already done work can be used, at least as logic or idea if not as code. Many thanks. Roberto.

How do you fix this, in theme.inc or the module?

I am working on a module update and there is a problem with theme.inc throwing an error on lines 552+ There are lots of threads and issues about this but none of them are conclusive. http://drupal.org/node/111517 What exactly is causing this and what is needed to correct the module so that it works with D5.1? Is it in fact something in the modules or is it something in the core that needs to be accomodated? I was of the understanding that drupals "logged sessions" and php "session cookies" were two different things. Drupal actually copies the session cookie into the database? sandboxing releases

Hello, After the so-manie-eth sandbox thread, I'd like to start yet another one :) I am sure I am not the only person creating a lot of code. And a lot of modules. With me writing approx a module a week, I am left with about 50 projects to maintain, accumulating each year. Off course I don't do that. No-one does that. Yet, the code, sitting in my private svn, is kindof lost. Some of it may actually be very useful for someone. Because its precesely what she needs, or because it is the basis to work from for another project. And yes, code that is written in less then a week, is often crappy code. <----> there is a very good reason for not releasing it <----> it's a hyper ugly piece of crap.' As quoted from IRC, said by a famous Drupaleer, after he was asked by someone if he could share some code. I would like to plead -again- to open up the sandboxen for such modules, projects and ideas. I feel it a pity to deprive the world from my (and others) silly code :) , only because I don't want to (spend the time) maintaining it. And because i know that many people's 'silly code' is probably of better quality then many others peoples 'maintained and released code'. Quality is not the thing that makes code release, its the time the developer has for it, or wants to give it. In the sandboxen at least it makes a chance of being picked up, as "raw material". I have had a problem like this before where the session files were being stored in a directory unavailable to PHP. You might try setting the directory path in php.ini and/or checking the permissions on the directory being used. Appropo dev stuff. Does the Drupal installer check the session directory? Several other CMS installers like Joomla do this. I'm debugging a weird issue with a Drupal 5.1 install. The bug presents like this: 1. Log in as an admin user. 2. Go to admin/build/block 3. Select a disabled block for adding it to some region (say, right side bar) and hit "submit". 4. The user will be immediately logged out, and will now see the admin/build/block page as forbidden. This problem is very specific to the server it's running on; I can take the same files and database, download them to a test host, and I will *not* see this problem. Hi, is it possible to create new project type on Drupal.org - installation profile? Some translators have created own installation profiles for their translation, blogger installation profile is proposed for Google SoC. Even people would IMHO notice, that something that installation profiles exist and the absolutely greatest thing would be to be able to just manage CVS which will automatically pack the profile into profile.tar.gz.
