Hello, I plan to do a performance comparison of Drupal 5.0 with Drupal 4.7 similar to what I did at: http://buytaert.net/drupal-vs-joomla-performance http://buytaert.net/drupal-webserver-configurations-compared Along with upgrading Drupal.org to Drupal 5 that should give us some more confidence about Drupal 5's performance. Of course, there are other aspects of Drupal 5 that could do being evaluated. Two examples would be: XHTML compliance, accessibility and search engine optimalisation. My question is slightly naive and slightly different. I don't maintain HEAD as an active branch. That is, only 4-7--x and 5--x branches are actually working code. What I haven't found are any explicit instructions regarding the use of HEAD vs. the other branches. See the issue submitted here: http://drupal.org/node/101118, for example. I think I'm a good example of someone who uses CVS but doesn't understand it, so I'd like to know what the expectation is regarding HEAD. So, should I be committing all new changes to HEAD as well as 5--x? Or should HEAD only be used for code that complies with changes to Drupal HEAD? hi folks. if anyone's been playing with core from the very tip of the DRUPAL-4-7 branch, you might have noticed a minor change in the API, regarding how FAPI renders #prefix elements from your form arrays. this can impact the UI of contrib modules, especially if you were trying to use css to modify the appearance of node forms. a) everyone who's messing with #prefix/#suffix around node forms should take a look at this: http://drupal.org/node/105960 b) the project_issue.css and project.css files had to change for 4.7.5 compatibility because of this. i just installed all of this on drupal.org, but you're going to have to clear your browser caches to get the new copy. ;) happy new years, -derek (dww)

This is a long requested feature in much more general terms -- i.e. subscribing to forum threads, etc. Generally, notification via email / RSS is desired. The meta issue is that we need someone to write a robust, lightweight, highly scaleable subscription framework capable of handling the volume on Drupal.org. There is the existing subscriptions module (http://drupal.org/project/subscriptions) that doesn't quite meet all of those needs yet. -- Boris

Is there a document for the general user describing the visual and workflow differences between 4.7 and 5.0? I didn't find one in my search and I've noticed that the Moderation Queue workflow is no longer provided and wanted to confirm that it was an intended difference. Earnie

unable to add contrib releases

Hello, I tagged a -BETA-2 version of my new ad module, but when I went to the project's page [1] and tried to add a new release [2] I received the following error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: cvs_get_version_from_tag() in /var/www/drupal.org/htdocs/contributions/modules/cvslog/cvs.module on line 904 Perhaps there's a site update in progress that I'm not aware of? Appeal for Help – Creating an Online Network Module

I'm looking for help! *Statement of Purpose* General: Online network module that includes people, groups, events, resources (a.k.a. files), schools – and several less useful things (email lists, campaigns). Users submit information and then control it. Features include: geocoding (both US and international), mapping, total syndication using web-services (the software is separated into server and client parts), international language support, interconnections (people can be connected to groups, that can be connected to issues, that can be connected to resources and so on), an automated email newsletter, and more. Specific: Targets the needs of activists (including people new to activism, part-time activists, and full-time organizers). Particularly useful for grassroots organizations with limited resources. *Demo* The original software whose functions I want to port to Drupal is running on CampusActivism.org and ActivismNetwork.org with 3700 people, 1500 groups, 430 resources and 1400 events. Release Candidate 1 of Drupal 5

Yesterday, we ran out of critical bugs. That means that the first release candidate of Drupal 5 is ready! You can see the announcement at <http://drupal.org/drupal-5.0-rc1>. About 122 bugs and performance improvements, big and small have been fixed since beta 2 <http://drupal.org/node/103420>. As you can read in the announcement, now is the time to start updating and releasing your modules. I've appended a list of important modules. The listed modules were downloaded more then 1000 times in the month October. Whether a module is available for Drupal 5.x was solely indicated by its presence on the 5.x download page. Remember: adoption of Drupal 5 depends for a large part on the available modules.
