Patches for improving filtering of projects on drupal.org: reviewers needed

Hi all, There are three patches in the queue aimed at improving our ability to classify and discover modules and themes on drupal.org, part of the CivicSpace Labs Drupal contributions. Might some devs be able to give them some detailed review? 1. Posted today, a patch to drupal.module to enable sites to post data on their installed modules/themes/theme engines to drupal.org: http://drupal.org/node/39697 This would enable us to collect data on what's actually used as a basis for project categorizing/prioritizing on drupal.org. In turn, drupal sites could (when we implement such) receive regular updates on newer versions of their installed components. This patch needs some detailed security-minded review. 2. Provide accurate changed dates for releases: http://drupal.org/node/37927 This is needed so that we can sort projects by date. It's not a complicated patch, so should be quick to review. 3. Browsing of projects by multiple parameters (date, category, name--once we complete the drupal.module changes, we'll add in ranking): http://drupal.org/node/33803#comment-56410 An earlier version of this patch got some good attention and feedback (thanks Angela, Ber, and Dries). The new version has a number of changes, though, so some fresh review would be great. If you can find the time, please test/review these patches. Thanks, Nedjo

Hello world, a new mailing list has been created: consulting(a)drupal.org, a mailing list for Drupal consultants, Drupal service providers, Drupal hosting providers, etc. As most of you know, there is large demand for Drupal consultants; pretty much every Drupal consultant is maxed out. This list aims to connect Drupal consultants, to share ideas and experience amongst Drupal consultants, to obtain feedback from Drupal consultants, and hopefully, to grow the number of Drupal consultants. Fwd: Answering the Drupal Community's Questions on Copyright, Licensing, Trademarks, etc.

Anyone have licensing type questions they'd like clarity on? Leave a comment on Zak Greant's blog -- he's a free software evangelist and has worked with a number of open source related companies and foundations. He knows a lot about licensing in this area, and is going to be giving a number of presentations in the coming year. Zak is here in Vancouver, and currently works for eZ Publish and the Mozilla Foundation, and will be attending the Open CMS Summit that I am helping to organize around DrupalCon at the beginning of February. [drupal-devel] performance improvements - avoiding big unserialize()

In speaking with Rasmus last night, he discouraged us from using unserialize() on large arrays when possible. This eats memory and speed. We do this at lkeast twice on evrry page view: the menu cache and the variables cache (i.e. $conf). Rasmus' suggestion was to store these arrays without serialization in a shared memory system like APC. I have a long term plan to add *optional* shared memory storage for these arrays and maybe others as they arise. Perhaps someone else wants to move this forward quickly. Comments welcome.

CVS repository unavailable

Hello world, depending on where you or your ISP are located, the Drupal CVS repositories, which are still hosted at Grafix, are temporary unavailable because "they lost an important backbone fiber". They are currently working on the problem. In the next few weeks, we'll work with OSL to move the Drupal CVS repositories from Grafix to OSL.
