Some issues and their fixes with Drupal 4.6.6 and PostgreSQL

Hello All, We ran into few issues when running Drupal 4.6.6 with PostgreSQL. The issue, in general, seems to be with some queries in some of the modules that attempted to insert a blank string ('') into an integer field. The modules affected are: user.module and node.module from Drupal Core, and flexinode module. I found that this issue has been discussed already at http://drupal.org/node/27870. I have a patch that fixes this issue reasonably. Please let me know how I should go about contributing it. Perhaps I could post the patch somewhere - either on this list or on one of the forums on drupal.org - and then one of the contributors can propagate it to the source code. Also, what is best place to post a patch for the fix in flexinode module? Thanks, Nimish

You guys do not read the various documentation despite lots of efforts went creating them. Have you read the form API reference where about every fifth line is a warning about missing # signs? I won't look up the PHP manual page where it mentions that if you omit a key then the key is actually 0 and obviously 0 is not something that begins with #. Also, core does not babysit broken code. But sometimes developers need a crutch. It's provided for quite some time at http://drupal.org/node/58355 .

Seg fault in PHP (FormsAPI)? Can you reproduce?

Hi everyone, I've just run into a segfault situation during development of a form element. Basically, all I changed from a working system was add a new form element and accidentally left something off one of the child element definitions. Here is a code snippet you can drop into a module and see if you can reproduce it. The line below is the working line. It could be the forms API code ends up in an infinite loop over this little fella and, if so, i'm happy to fix it. previewing issue followups on drupal.org (needs review)

for all the complaining i've noticed in the issue queues from many of y'all about how annoying it is that you can't preview issue follow-ups on drupal.org (unless you have "admin nodes" privs, in which case you don't see the bug at all), i'm amazed i've had so much trouble getting anyone else to review and test my solution to this problem. ;) http://drupal.org/node/29105 http://drupal.org/files/issues/project_issue_preview.patch.5 i know we're all busy, but if the tools we use to manage our software and release process are hard to use, that just slows everything down even more. instead of apologizing for busted markup in another one of your posts, please just review this patch, verify it works for you, and followup to the issue. once i get a few positive replies, i'll commit it so we can get drupal.org updated. not only is this problem a pain in our own asses, it makes drupal itself look bad. new users who are trying to use the issue queue and hit "preview", expecting something useful to happen, see nothing except the form they were just editing. this problem has been gnawing away at me for weeks, and i'd love to resolve it. it's a somewhat large patch, so i don't just want to commit it myself without independent review and testing. in private email, dries said he'd try to review it, but he's way too busy to have to bother with this sort of thing, given how many other people on this list are capable of reviewing and testing without using up dries' time. ;) thanks! -derek

Since this "ad" is running on our site, we are quilty of this false information, not something we should do IMHO. Next thing there will be a provider with "unlimited +1 webspace" or "unlimited data transfer 2.0".
