Functions for Creating Index Pages?

Hi everyone, I havn't been able to find any functions that would create an index page (such as the front page, or taxonomy/term/n) -- can anyone give me a shove in the right direction regarding which functions/proceedures to look at? I would use the taxonomy option but it's not appropriate for this project as i need a custom page title not "term 1, term2, term3" for the node type. What is the substitude of base in hook_node_info()?

Hello, There are some undocumented changes in hook_node_info(): http://drupal.org/node/64279#comment-143533 The hook returns an array. In 4.7, the array has the key 'base', which is replaced by the key 'module' in head. How should the project.module be updated? function project_node_info() { return array( 'project_project' => array('name' => t('project'), 'base' => 'project_project'), 'project_issue' => array('name' => t('issue'), 'base' => 'project_issue')); } It defines two different node types, and the base is used to call callback functions, for some node types hooks like hook_access(). Thus, project_project_access() and project_issue_access() are called according to the node type. How is this supposed to work in head? Is 'module' the exact equivalent of 'base'? This week: 1} Report on progress since last time. 2} Featured short issue queues. 3} Why this report and how to cooperate? ******************************************* 1} Report on progress since last week. ******************************************* When viewing the report, make sure to check the level of activity in each queue. The number in parenthesis designs the number of issues 2 weeks old or more (i.e. issues most likely forgotten and not being dealt with). A low number of old issues compared to the total number of issues is an indication of activity within that particular queue. Comparing the queues of Patch Needs Review in both 4-7 and 4-6 branches, we notice that the number of issues is about the same compared to the previous week. But there is one major difference: 4-6 issues are all old, but 4-7 issues have almost all been reviewed during the last week or two. I don't need to tell you about the activity that has been going on in HEAD. In the 4-5 branch, however, thanks to Johan Forngren, all bugs have been reviewed (hence the 4-5 bugs queue featured last week is cleared and no longer part of the report) and the number of other issues have dropped significantly from 58 to only 10. With all this activity, the 4-6 branch stands out for its lack thereof. There are 930 subscribers to this mailing list. Is it possible that 20-50 of those read this report and decide to work together to lower the number of issues on each of the 7 queues featured this week? Please write to me privately (so that I know that my reports are useful!) or reply publicly on the list if you are participating. Otherwise a feature request, is still a feature request and should be bumped back up to cvs. ******************************************* 3} Why this report and how to cooperate? ******************************************* There are now over 2200 issues in the queue. The figure sounds daunting: how can a very few volunteer developers deal with such a huge amount of bugs? The point is that we don't need to worry of the whole issue queue, but by getting somewhat more organized, the most important of those issues can be definitively dealt with. To start with, there shouldn't be anything critical within the Drupal project issues. Critical bugs must be dealt as a matter of priority. But one can get easily discouraged when facing 4 four pages of critical issues. The first step is therefore to sort out what is really critical from what is not. Having a shortlist of what is really critical, two or three developers can focus on a single issue, helping each other, so that one week later there is one really critical issue less. Similarly, 10-12 developers could get rid of 3-4 critical issues and in a few weeks, the list of critical issues would be down to almost nothing (only 1-2 issues caused by a large patch recently introduced in head, for example). If you wish to participate in tackling one of the 7 short issue queues featured here, please reply to the list, quoting only the issue you wish to 'adopt', changing also the subject title of your email to reflect the queue you have chosen. Nodes content within nodes solution developement?

Before I begin what I need to know is if someone is already working on this or has done work on something similar. Update numbering change- watch your update.php

The numbering of the updates have changed to allow space for branches [1]. This means that those running HEAD will have the first update since 4.7 auto-selected instead of the relevant update. InnoDB and accesslog/ watchdog

Hi there! I am considering to write a patch which would split up the accesslog and watchdog tables into a storage table and a smaller table where we'd insert the new events. To still show the end user the combined results, I would use a merge table in mysql (there are other methods for pgsql). The issue is that the merge engine only works for myisam tables so for mysql we'd need to enforce them. Is there anybody who prefers innodb for logging tables and would prefer to not change them to myisam? Cheers, Gerhard

poll inline module

Hi, I happen to have a module which inlines a poll. Doing this is far from trivial. Let's say you have node/123 and it'sa poll. Then [[poll: 123]] inside another node body will just become that poll. The module is at http://drupal.pastecode.com/2999 written for 4.7.3 it will NOT work with 4.7.2 because of a form API bug fixed in .3 (if you exclude previews then it might) Feel free to adopt just drop me & the list a line Regards NK

What is a contribution?

I am curious about the requirement of being a contributor to get on the Services page of the Handbook. To quote: "This section lists some of the people and organizations providing Drupal-related services including design, installation, custom Drupal software development, training, support and consulting services. We only list individuals and companies that have contributed to Drupal." But there is nothing on what a contribution can be. Is it a judgement call or are there actually guidelines? Does it have to be a core contribution? do patches count? third party modules? patches to third party modules? documentation? finanancial? handbook pages? Should not the actual contribution to Drupal be listed on the description page of the company or individual? Can someone not only answer these questions but also make the according changes to the page? distributions : variable defaults

At Bryght we have been using distributions (nee install profiles) for a while now. One of the things we found very necessary was to alter the defaults provided by the install profile, instead of just setting the variables during the initial install. A lot of the time, we found it nicer to have programmatic defaults (ie: it defaults to the site name provided in the hosting database), but also it fixes the issue whereby hitting the 'reset to defaults' button resets to the drupal defaults, not the defaults provided by the install profile. The patch for this is here : http://drupal.org/node/25745 This also introduces the loading of a profiles/$profile/$profile.inc file, which I feel is very important for the install profile to be able to add code into the running distribution. I think we should also considering using a 'distribution' namespace, and inserting the 'distribution' into the module_list. This would allow distributions to do things like providing custom _help hooks, and a couple of other things.
