Oh harro, So an anonymous user hits http://example.com/start-building and we want them to be a full-fledged logged in user at the end of the page with no redirect to make the session stick. Yes that's right ladies and gentlemen, no drupal_goto()! The issue is, the session doesn't really stick until the next page hit, requiring a drupal_goto(). I've been doing some dumping of $_COOKIE to watchdog() and noticed that they have a different sess ID on that first hit. Then after doing a drupal_goto() they have another sess ID that ends up sticking throughout their session. *My question:* How would I give this anonymous user his/her legit session all in this same page hit so any AJAX calls they make from this same page (remember, no redirect!) will pass the good cookie, not this anonymous cookie (mmm, chocolate). Also, this triggered something in my brain about Drupal giving anonymous user's first hit a different cookie for some reason or another, but I forget exactly why. Is that related to my issue? If not, would someone mind explaining that anyways or pointing me in the right direction? Thanks, RobRoy

Hello all. Not sure iff this meets etiquette requirements but I'd like to remind people of this patch: http://drupal.org/node/158445 . It's just been pushed back to 7.x-Dev but it was ready to go back in September. I think that it's pretty beneficial as it means htaccess editing can be kept to a minimum. Thanks Adam

It seems that let us able to select different data type for different database backend. Basically, it seems to be a great idea ;-) BTW, I don't understand why we need it in locale.install. {locales_source}.source and {locales_target}.translation both map TEXT for other database (says, we only have pgsql in case of D6), but map MySQL into BLOB. Do we have any special reason for this different handling? In case of PostgreSQL, decode BLOB require a manual call for db_decode_blob(); BTW, db_decode_blob() for MySQL is just a dummy... According to different data type mapping, application level should also change their implementation... Any idea about the detail story of this issue? Is this even a bug? If so I would like to give some effort based on this issue. Taxonomy and input form question

Hi, I'm quite new to Drupal and I'm doing quite a big project in it. I'll try to keep my questions as short as I can. I wonder if anyone can help. This is my scenario.. I have a hierarchy something like this: Region 1 -- Vehicle 1 ---- Driver 1 ---- Driver 2 -- Vehicle 2 ---- Driver 3 ---- Driver 4 Region 2 -- Vehicle 3 ---- Driver 4 ---- Driver 6 -- Vehicle 4 ---- Driver 7 ---- Driver 8 etc On the submit form, I have an active select that once Region is selected, it filters the vehicle list, which then filters the Driver list My question is, how do I add, say, a "Co-Driver" (who will be at the same level as the Driver)? In other words, once someone has selected the Vehicle, I need there to be 2 lists (dropdowns) that are filtered with Drivers and Co-drivers. I hope that makes sense! Can cash for views/cck help speed Drupal 6 adoption?

I'd like to get some feedback. Allow me to throw some statements out there and tell me if they are accurate: 1) CCK and Views modules conversion to Drupal 6 is far behind. 2) Many people will not even think about moving to Drupal 6 until these modules are upgraded to work with Drupal 6. 3) Therefore, Drupal 6 adoption rate will be slow. If 3 is true, a worrisome development, I make the following arguments (again, tell me if it's wrong): 4) CCK and Views module conversion is slow because they are complex modules done in people's spare time. 5) Paying experienced drupal coders to work on these project will speed development of these modules. If 5 is true, then I ask whether or not this is accurate: 6) Firms that build websites using Drupal have an interest in rolling out newer and better versions of Drupal so they remain competitive. 7) These firms have cash to pay experienced Drupal coders. 8) It would be wise to have these firms pool money together to help speed the development of Views and CCK. I'm sure these kinds of topics have come up before. I'm sorry I can't follow Drupal devel as closely as I would like. If someone could point out the weak/strong points of these arguments/statements, I'd be very interested to hear since I'd like to donate if it will help.
