I probably have 3000 items and sub-items, but have spent 9 hours building an index page for 100 products, that I had to break into 4 pages in Drupal because the system choked on the 1000+ lines of code needed to do what I wanted to do. I do not expect to have to refresh the whole menagerie every day or week, but it is awful that it takes this long to do this. I am having to work outside of the ubercart system because of the second part of the issue, that arbitrary instructions field that I need. Paypal cart lets me do this, however it loses all the ec features of ecommerce. I have such a site with over 100k SKUs, updated weekly, and creating/deleting the whole node set every week is not something you want to do. OTOH, if you're in the 1k SKUs, this is still reasonable. The key concept for such volume use, though, appears to be lazy node creation (only create product nodes when you actually want a transaction involving them). This has been discussed recently (maybe it was one some planet blog ?), and others pointed to similar mechanisms on their own project. user_save() trying to create a duplicate user

Hello, I'm currently trying to solve a bug report for my module ( http://drupal.org/node/217639) rallycivic keeps getting a "__clone method called on non-object" when he runs a function in my module. My module runs through a CiviCRM database and pulls out certain CiviCRM contacts that have membership status. The goal is to get this status synchronized to a Drupal role. There is a static method in the CiviCRM API called CRM_Core_BAO_UFMatch::getUFId(). This method will take a CiviCRM contact id and return its corresponding Drupal uid. I then take this list of uids and pass it to the user_multiple_role_edit() function. This function uses the user_save() function to apply role changes. I think that one of rallcivic's uids is causing an issue with this function. From reading the user_save() function's code I can see that it tries to create a new user if the uid doesn't exist. For some reason I think it is trying to do this on a valid uid, which throws a duplicate error that rallycivic has found in watchdog: "Location http://chelmsfordmc.co.uk/admin/settings/civimember_roles/manual_sync Referrer http://chelmsfordmc.co.uk/admin/settings/civimember_roles/manual_sync Message Duplicate entry '' for key 2 query: INSERT INTO users (uid, created, access) VALUES (404, 1202163268, 1202163268) in /home/chelmsf/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172." Then the drupal_clone() function is called on a bogus object and throws the clone method error. At least, that is what I think is happening. Has anyone ran into a situation similar to this before? ecommerce things

I am at the beginning of an informal project to add some features to ecommerce on drupal. The current system is great for people with small catalogs, or who want to add one or 2 items a day, incrementally developing a large catalog, however the only thing it appears one may do en mass is delete products. This is my "hello world" project in drupal, so 'Hi y'all!" My wish list. 1) I want to add a field to each instance of a SKU that is in the shopping cart so the buyer can add custom instructions for items. This must accept arbitrary text, but I think I will have to work out how to make sure code cannot be run from it. 2) I want bulk upload to the database from csv or (2.a.) a spreadsheet-like php page that lets a user type in several products at once and add all their attributes at once. Where would you start with this kind of wishlist? Would you build it for 6.x and then back it into 5.x, based on the good probability that the project will not get done this month? Would this be categorized as an insanely optimistic 1st project? I am trying to write a module to allow my web users to write stories just during their birthday web; how can I achieve this? Tao, I think that Moshe is not correct in this, since node module will invoke hook_X where hook is defined by the (ill-named) 'module' field for the node type, or 'node_content' in the case of GUI-defined types. google chart api module

Hello, I'm considering using the Google Chart API for a project, and am just putting out feelers for the latest developments and if anyone has anything in motion besides what I've found w/ searching. If it works out based on our needs it would be ideal to build on something as opposed to start afresh. - I've found there used to be a project here http://www.google.com/ search?hl=en&q=http%3A%2F%2Fdrupal.org%2Fproject% 2Fchartapi&btnG=Google+Search but it is now disappeared or aliased elsewhere. - I've found there is a module started here http://drupal.org/project/ chart - It sounds like there are already two modules according to http:// drupal.org/node/200816 and its references (there's a module on that code.google.com thread) Is there anything else underway or already committed? Bug in _db_create_field_sql?

Hi! I've discovered a possible bug in _db_create_field_sql for MySQL, but I'm not positive, and I can't believe this hasn't come up before, but I can't find any bug reports, so I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing. According to the MySQL docs, a numeric column specification is NUMERIC (precision, scale) [at least, I think that's what they want -- they talk about precision and scale in the data type reference, but refer to length and decimals in the CREATE TABLE syntax]. However, in _db_create_field_sql for MySQL, according to api.drupal.org, the order used is scale, precision. Is there something I'm missing? Is there already a bug report for this, and if so where (and how did you find it)? I couldn't find anything about this using either Google or Drupal search... Image module needs help

Hi there folks, I had said several weeks ago that when I got some time I planned to finish the Image module port to 6. I haven't been able to find that time and it doesn't look likely for at least a few more weeks. Now that we have opened dev for D7 and are getting ready to roll D6, we *really* need help to get Image upgraded. Just wanted everyone to know that I'm not going to be able to do it myself, so that people wouldn't assume "someone's taking care of that." Addi (aka add1sun)
