Ian, I'm thinking that what you did results in being able to sell Widget in several languages and currencies, all sales coming from one inventory. And that uc_domain would modify the invoices, etc. based on what country the items were ordered from. Is that correct? In this case, Widget would be item 001 in the U.S., item 002 in Canada, etc. so that an order for it from the U.S. would not come from the same inventory as an order for it from Canada, and all the downhill books (sales accounting, distribution) would follow. In other words, what you did would seem to be for one company and source of goods sold to many places, where what I would need is the company headquarters (with the admin panel) having a distribution company in each country, each with their own inventory and accounting. Creative ideas?

I have a client, who has a client, with a D6 site and Ubercart store. They now want to take their store international (since their business has become so), and want to be able to have separate store financials (fulfilment, checkout, reports, inventory, etc.) for each country, as well as separate site functionality for things like blocks, etc. ---- all from one admin panel. I know there's a module to specify content availability by domain. There is also a module to allow one store to stretch over several domains, but it doesn't segregate the 'inners' of each store. I thought I'd ask whether anyone knows if this has been done. Second reactions, I guess, since the first are likely to be either 'hahaha' or 'sure...a team and several months' :-)

Views field handler being ignored

Trying to override a views field handler with another. Doing it with the node field handler just to test, the sole visible change expected is the help text on the link to node option should be different. Have read the advanced help, hooks docs, code, etc., but am missing something. 1. Created a module directory with typical .info file, which modules finds and is happy with. In particular, it contains: files[] = my.module files[] = my_views.inc files[] = my_handler_field_node.inc 2. In my.module (which has a weight of 11) function my_views_handlers() { return array('my_handler_field_node'); } 3. my_views.inc is the same as node_views.inc except the function names are changed from node_views to my_views in my_views_handlers() the handler for field node is changed to my_handler_field_node in $data['node']['title'] the handler name is changed to my_handler_field_node 4. my_handler_field_node.inc is the same as views_handler_field_node.inc except the class name was changed and the help text for the link to node form item in the options for is changed and....yup, of course, no change.

Refresh rather than re-create D6 cache

Hi, In D6, after all caches are cleared, or after a lot of them expire and get emptied by cron, the server load spikes seriously because all such caches need to be re-populated. Since this happens more and more on sites I work on, I have been thinking about using another approach in my modules, in the sense that caches would be *refreshed* rather than cleared and re-populated. Each cache refresh would run depending on e.g. a simple variable storing last time stamp of any other cache refresh. This would assure that a) all cached values would be available at all times, b) caches would never be re-calculated all at the (near) same time. I am about to write logic for this, but wanted to first check with others in the list -- perhaps some of you know or can point to an elegant solution that already exists. Thanks! vacilando

Stable entity type ids in D7?

I have a couple dozen fields in my db. When we went from alpha6 to alpha7, the entity type id for comment changed from 2 to 1, and node from 1 to 2. I had to change all the ETID columns for my field instances, as well as the node blobs where entity type id is also kept. Now in beta1, comment is back to being 2, and node is back to being 1, and all my node fields have 2 in the entity type id and node blob and my fields aren't listed again on the content type. Is there a reason this keeps changing? Is there a way I can get back into synch more easily than doing all that work again? I could just change the entity types, but I don't want to have to do that again with every release. Jeff

Drupal 7 API Change notification: Late changes including FAPI select and CSS/JS Aggregation

*We try to notify this list when API changes are made in Drupal 7, so contrib and custom developers have a chance to fix their code before they have the pain of figuring out why it's broken.* There are a number of changes over the last couple of weeks. Two of these (CSS/JS Aggregation and FAPI select #required) are re-do's after the original API change was hotly discussed, so hoping you didn't take those too seriously when they were announced before. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/744384>) The signature of * drupal_anonymous_user*() has changed - it no longer takes an optional $session. If you use drupal_anonymous_user($session), it won't work right any more. Also in this issue, the behavior of session updates changed: Although the session data will always be current, the timestamp will not be with anonymous users. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/881530>) If you use *field_create_field*() to create a *term reference field*, you have to use a vocabulary machine name, not $vid. Validation handlers or widget code will be affected in the same way. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/769226>) *CSS and Javascript aggregation* was changed (again) in this issue. Somebody needs to write a blog post or reply. The actual resolution went through many difficult iterations since the last time it got committed. It has significant impact on performance and best practice for module developers, but I was unable to grok the actual outcome. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/140783>) *FAPI Select elements with #required * was reworked again since the last API change notification about this. #required = FALSE became the default again, and the new #empty_value and #empty_option influence whether an additional empty value is added. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/356036>) *field_content_languages*() now returns all languages (enabled and disabled) instead of just enabled languages. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/930122>) The Drupal variable file_directory_temp (variable_get('file_directory_temp')) has gone away. All who need this information should be using file_directory_temp() anyway, and in reality references should be to temporary://<whatever> when working with temporary files. (issue <http://drupal.org/node/438224>) The permission named '*post comments without approval*' was renamed to 'skip comment approval'. If you have a test or other use of this permission, your code is broken. Beta now! We're getting there. As always, if you know more about these than I do (it doesn't take much) then reply to this and educate us better about it. And contribute to the appropriate documentation as well. Capturing $form array of a specific content type

Could be I am missing something easy here, but is there a standard way to get the $form array of a node/add/* right before it would be rendered. Basically, I want it after all the hook_form_alters ave happened, but I want the array, not the html drupal_render generates? I'm working on a custom form that I want to potentially create several nodes. I could just manually create the same fields and then deal with the submit, but it seems to me that they must already exist *exactly* how I want them anyway. Currently I have the following: function my_form($form, &$form_state) { $my_form = array(); // Some fields added to $my_form... $fake_node->type = 'my_content_type'; $node_form = node_form(&$form_state, $fake_node); $form = array_merge($node_form, $form); //More fields added to $my_form... return $form; } However, that just gives me the standard node fields, not the CCK fields that exist in my_content_type. Domain Access Cron

Anyone have experience with Domain Access and running cron? I'm setting up Domain access to work with multiple domains, all shared tables -- and I can't find documentation on how I should run cron. Should I setup cron to run on all domains or just on the "primary" domain? I'm sure the answer is that it depends. I'm sure this is obvious to some, but I'm worried I'll make a fatal mistake. Josh

Question: does anyone know if there's going to be any more discussion on the Drupal slogan? "Come for the software, stay for the community" seems so... navel-gazing to me. (If you feel this should be moved to a different list feel free to suggest one; the wiki page on the topic got locked, the GDO post got locked, the bug related to it got closed...) -D
