I am now running VIM 7.2 and love the tabs and auto complete features for PHP and other Web based technologies. Has anyone written a auto complete file yet for Drupal 5/6/7 branches yet? Hey all, I've been using Komodo for a while and while I like its built-in support for xdebug (breakpoints, stepping, stack trace, the whole enchilada) and code intel. But I hate it because it's a terrible resource hog. I've been using Coda for a couple weeks, and although it's extremely pretty, it lacks a few pretty key things, xdebug support being the main one. I used TextMate before Komodo and am thinking of going back, but I really would hate to live without debugging/xdebug support. Also, I've tried Eclipse and don't like it. Thoughts? TextMate + some magic to support xdebug maybe? -Dom

Greetings, sorry if I couldn't answer earlier to all the feedback that came in the original thread a couple weeks ago. It looks like several things I wrote were simply ignored by some posters. I'm going to shortly sum them up again, and then ask one (last, I promise) related question. IIRC, I had already made clear, before getting these answers, that: - I'm already much more expert in awk/sed/bash/perl coding than with PHP, so a non-php solution is much more time-efficient for me, if at all possible. Not to mention that those tools/languages give, in the real world of desktop/usb key linux distros, more guarantees to work out of the box without tweaking or installing extra-packages than anything requiring php. - I know very well what HTML forms and HTTP cookies are, and have already done this with non-drupal websites. And the URLs you see in the browser when you add content by hand are NOT "index.php + some parameters" - (almost) the only solution I am interested into is how to add new content remotely, when I cannot alter in any way the configuration of the server where Drupal runs. I'm not rewriting all this to start a fight, really, just to clarify why I asked what I asked and what I already know, that is to save your time. This said, I do understand all the points about Drupal being more interested in offering a flexible API than in supporting this kind of things. So, I will now go back to my desk and put together, by myself, my custom shell+curl hack based on the one posted here by Martin Stadler (thanks, Martin!). However, let me ask you this: If you already said it, I do confess I didn't recognize it: what is the smallest possible set of Drupal(related) Php **files or libraries** that I should install on a Linux *desktop* without HTTP server but with a working PHP-CLI interpreter, to put together a PHP script which can log into a remote Drupal site and add nodes? My first post: path_set_alias() and multiple aliases

Hi, path_set_alias($path, $alias) inserts a new alias in case there is already an alias for $path. However drupal_lookup_path() keeps picking up the old alias. It makes sense to keep the old alias so links don't break in a website, but why look up the old alias when generating a URL? Is this a bug? Shouldn't the query "SELECT dst FROM {url_alias} WHERE src = '%s' AND language IN('%s', '') ORDER BY language DESC" in drupal_lookup_path() be rewritten as "SELECT dst FROM {url_alias} WHERE src = '%s' AND language IN('%s', '') ORDER BY language DESC, pid DESC" Also, shouldn't this be db_result(db_query_range()) instead of just db_result(db_query())? Programmatic data importing from JSON source

Hello folks, I've been struggling for a long time (way too long) to get a data feed imported into CCK nodes. I've attempted a plethora of different strategies, including but not limited to: FeedAPI, Feed Element Mapper, custom parsers, hacking parsers, tweaking mappers, Yahoo! Pipes to create custom feed versions of the original feed, serialized PHP exports, etc. I'm tired of the project, but I have to find a way to get this to work. So, I found a few articles on programmatically creating CCK nodes and I'm hoping to connect with anyone who's had experience doing this with JSON data. There is an XML/RSS version of this feed I need, but it sucks compared to the JSON version, with respect to how much data is in there and how it's formatted. The XML version hides a lot of crucial info into a <summary> element... which I might be able to parse through separately, but RSS feed aggregators just ignore stuff in there. Again, I'd have to make a custom parser to get in there. Here's an article that hits about as close as I've seen yet. I am leaving for a couple days, so I'll try to get something like this working when I get back, but I hoped to hear from anyone who's done the same thing. Information on using JSON data to create nodes is sparse, but this article hits pretty close to the mark: https://secure.prolucid.com/node/43 I had read other posts about doing similar methods using drupal_execute(), et. al, but they all talk only about XML as data source. I haven't found anything talking about JSON or (un)serialized PHP sources. What I really need to do is do an initial import of the JSON feed into my CCK node (which is a huge feed of 6,200+ items). After that, I want to check the feed every day for changes and create new daily nodes accordingly -- which is why FeedAPI really seemed like the ticket, aside from my massive struggles with making my own parser. For now, I'd be happy with a PHP script that I could call daily with cron. Thanks for any feedback... sorry for the long post. Part rant, part plea. :) Cheers, Paul Hoza
