Hi all, with add1sun and webchick we did a bit of brainstorming couple of days ago to extend and draft an task idea that came up in the task ideas topic. The task is to create a cheat sheet that contains useful and often used pieces of information on one printable sheet. I did my best to give pointers on what should be included in such a cheat sheet, but to complete it I would like to ask you to add your ideas and suggestions to the list. Wikipedia entry for Drupal versus other web application frameworks

Writing Directly To node_access Table

I've written a module that allows an admin to specify access to a project node (using the Project module) at a user level. There is an admin page with a separate form for each project in a collapsible fieldset where the user can select which users have access for each project. I'm using hook_node_access_records() and hook_node_grants() to write access records to node_access. The one big problem I have is that hook_node_access_records is only called when the node is saved. I would like to allow the admin to be able to set the access on the admin page and have it take effect right away, instead of then having to go in and save each project node for the records to be written to node_access. Is there a problem with writing directly to the node_access table, such as in the submit function for my form? That way, the access records would already be available the next time the node is access. If I do that, do I have to do something like call node_access_rebuild at some point after the data has been written to the table? Thanks. Steve

Since I have previously written a set of tests, I think I can mentor. Also - that's why I did stop at 3 rather than creating as many as possible. OK, I got it figured out, mostly. First, I use hook_insert to execute my file handling code (see below). However, I've still got one problem: I only want to execute this code if the node being inserted has been "cloned". You see I've used "if $node->agenda == 'clone'", but this obviously doesn't work since there is no $node->agenda item. I need a way to tell the system that this node being inserted is a cloned node. Any suggestions on how to do this? I was thinking about using a SESSION variable, but am not sure if that's the most efficient way to do it. Also, if I add files to the cloned node which already contains files, I need a way to determine which files in $node->files have actually been uploaded, and which have only been copied from the original node. Desperate plea for help on the GHOP program

GHOP: Google Contest. Week-long tasks (coding, documentation, or otherwise) that 13-18 year olds knock out of the park. See http://drupal.org/node/195913 for contest details. Good news: These students are frickin' awesome. Clone Node with File Attachments

I understand that the current node_clone.module does not support file attachments. I would like to clone a node, and if the node has file attachments, copy those attachments to the new node. Can someone point me in the right direction on this? Forum error: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in node.module on line 521

Shortly after applying the Drupal 5.2 patch to my site, I noticed that whenever I go to a forum, I get errors. I just updated the site to Drupal 5.5, and still get the same errors: * warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /modules/node/node.module on line 521. * warning: implode(): Bad arguments. in /modules/node/node.module on line 525. * user warning: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 query: SELECT n.nid, n.vid, n.type, n.status, n.created, n.changed, n.comment, n.promote, n.sticky, r.timestamp AS revision_timestamp, r.title, r.body, r.teaser, r.log, r.format, u.uid, u.name, u.picture, u.data FROM node n INNER JOIN users u ON u.uid = n.uid INNER JOIN node_revisions r ON r.vid = n.vid WHERE in /includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172. Forum module 5.5 OG Forum module: 5.x-2.x-dev I can't seem to find any posts on this particular issue. built in db error messages provide too much information(?)

Hey, Drupal 6 has nice themable error pages now (even if the DB is down), so advanced sites can theme out sensitive details about the database. But Drupal by default still displays advice to the site admin and possibly sensitive database details (the db error message), when it cannot connect to the database. On the plus side, this is good debug information and help tip for the admin, but frankly anyone could be the visitor at the time, and we always think it is the administrator. So here is a patch which awaits some feedback, which would provide a more user friendly error message, but obviously much less debug information and help tips for admins. http://drupal.org/node/178523 Please comment there if you care.
