Bugfix releases for contrib

All- As a novice developer, I have an opinion question. How rapidly should bugfixes be released using the Drupal module release system. To be specific, whenever I do a point release, I get new bugs because people upgrade or I get new users. New bugs appear becuase I'm a novice, and I'd prefer not to debate that here. The question is, how quickly should I roll a point release to address those bugs? I've already rolled two point releases this week, and have a third pending. So which is the "better" option: - Quickly release bugfix #3? - Post a patch for existing (known) bugs and note that a new release is forthcoming after XX days of bug checking? (I realize, of course, that the best option is "catch all the bugs before releasing the module," but it's already too late for that.) A follow-up question: Should the consensus answer be added to http://drupal.org/handbook/cvs/releases/types All non-flames appreciated. Offlist is ok. - Ken Rickard agentrickard

Profile module for D6

The last few projects I've worked on have called for a few enhancements to profile.module, and I was wondering if it would be worth submitting patches for consideration in Drupal 6, or whether profile.module will even survive that long :) The updates to profile module will be useful for supporting OpenID attribute exchange, as well as general data integrity of profile data. And it doesn't break any of the previous functionality. New features: - multiple-select lists (took the easy way out and stored as serialized data could be improved to store the data in normalized tables) - key=>value mapping for select lists - data validation for each field (eg. email, numbers, strings, postal code) - complex data types (eg. address: street, city, state, etc) (this is not as important as the previous ones but may be useful for some people) -Rowan

Move "Delete" or "Reset" to tabs?

Hi, currently editing, resetting or deleting an item is done via buttons below the edit page of an item (e.g. node/[]/edit). I ask myself why I have to click on "Edit" to actually delete a node (or a node type, a user, a menu item etc.). "Is this a bug?" type questions

I have been reading this dev list for 18 months now, and I am still not 100% sure what questions will get you slapped down. I particularly wonder about questions like Carl Mc Dade just asked - ei: I am writing code that interacts with the core modules and found an unexpected behavior - is it a bug or intentional? I have interacted with other open source projects in the past where they got very upset if I filed an issue in ignorance, so I like to research before I file. Is this list an appropriate place for that research, or is this list intended to be only for developers working on the core? thanks, -tao

Put simply (SQL Server english query style) I need to get "how long it has been since the user last visited" "the time/date of the users last visit" made available to a module when the user logs in. So I'm reading your question again and, if it's not ->login that you want you'll have to rephrase your question to make sense. I read your question as "I want the time the user actually logged in". "Is there no longer a last access functionality?" sounds like your accusing some Drupal Ninja Squirrel of stealing some of your nuts. Nope, That is updated first so their is no way of pulling the old time code before the newer on sets. This is the same problem as the access object. Googleajaxsearch

Small question , we have commited googleajaxsearch module for drupal-5, i have created branch Drupal-5 and commited the files. Anyway with drupal 4-7 it tooks like a day to compress and publish the tarbal, am I skipping something because its 4th day and there is no compressed package visable.
