no 4-7-0 branch for core yet?

i am trying to checkout a 4-7-0 branch from core for a client. I want him to get all updates to this branch just by cvs up. But that branch does not exist yet AFAICT. Is there some better way to do this. Should we ask Dries and team to create one? I suppose it doesn't exist yet because we haven't opened up HEAD for features. -moshe

enterprise needs

Ben, Dries and chx are really nice people when you talk with them in person. I agree with you that Drupal's lack of backwards compatibility makes it difficult for enterprise users. One of the biggest enterprise users told me he plans to never upgrade. Other enterprise users I spoke with about this have reached the same conclusion. I've heard it said that if Drupal were forced to choose between the little 'guy', and corporate users, Drupal will choose the little person every single time. For Dries this is a labor of love. An example of what (one of) motivates him is that someone with a terminal/serious disease can reach out and find help through Drupal. Helping some big corporation save money is not what motivates him to give so much of his time to Drupal. Many people working with Drupal/civicspace are motivated by the idea of empowering the individual/"masses." (of course large non-profits also are enterprise users.) I would guess there's a 25% probability that an enterprise fork will develop that is backwards compatible. I do think that will be necessary for Drupal to become accepted in the corporate world. At the conference we talked about having an enterprise user group and/or an enterprise mailing list. Perhaps that can happen Enterprise users do have a lot to offer the community in terms of putting modules back in and donations. I think it's great you've written so much code. Thank you. Hi, i am working on the module System Info, http://drupal.org/node/48602, which includes a up-to-date function. With these function the user can check if the module files of the local drupal installation are up to date. But I need an interface at drupal.org to get infos like cvs file id and md5 checksum. I'm trying to write sqlite support for Drupal and I noticed, that fields of type blob don't get encoded with db_encode_blob, e.g. in bootstrap.inc: function cache_set. Is this OK (because it's causing problems for sqlite) ? Regards Tadej

re: defining critical bugs

I forgot who just sent an email yesterday suggesting we offer guidelines on what a critical bug is, etc. I think this email, and the one sent a week before, fell completely into a void. I just want to say that I think this would save the core developers a lot of time in trying to get rid of critical bugs, by preventing users from submitting non-critical bugs as critical bugs. (I think this is where an hour spent writing the guidelines could save many more hours of going thru the endless critical bugs.) remember, we'll never get down to zero, unless we (you) squash the bugs FASTER than they are reported. there are 2 rates, the rate of fixing, and the rate of reporting. We've been focusing on the former. I suggest we do something about the rate of reporting. Ann
