The POTs themsefls are not, so that people are not in need of playing catchup every day. Hi Goba, Thank you for your reply. I will wait a while until we get a release candidate (and its corresponding POTs) and then fix up the translation again. In the mean time, I will keep this one as is and not play catch-up all the time. Are the POTs generated automatically like the download tarballs? We are also playing cacthup in the Hungarian translation :) The strings did change thoughout the betas, and I would assume that they will still change. At least some help text was fixed online, and at least some of those should find their way into the code IMHO to have a clean release. Now there are strange help texts even in the latest pot files like page module help talking about trackback and location modules, which are not even core modules. I have checked, and this problem is at least fixed, but I bet others like this are also fixed in the big help texts. There were also visible feature changes recently (khm, in the beta process, khm). Anyway, for example primary and secondary links were lately integrated to the menu system, and this was refelected in the pot strings too. Drupal 4.7 POT

Hi, I have just added my Afrikaans translation to a fresh CVS copy of Drupal. There seems to be several strings (approx. 4%) not translated. Dit the POT files change a lot since December? I assume fixing those few (approx. 100 strings) will not be too tough, but wondering if it is worth it to do this again now? Can someone shed light on when this would be stable enough to finalize the translation? Regards, Kobus

new extractor, should work on Windows

Hi, Today I committed several improvements to the translation template generator. These include: - new automatic file discovery (no need to pass all parsed filenames directly) [control freaks can still use the old mode with the --files option] - speedier operation: now uses a lot less memory, and a lot less computational power, due to some trivial optimisations Previously people complained that the extractor is not easy to run on Windows due to the command line nature of how file names were passed in. Actually I did not fix this issue intentionally, I discovered that the previously suggested file wildcards were missing some important files, and only ugly wildcards would have helped. Anway, now the extractor autodiscovers files starting from the current working directory, so it should work out of the box for Windows users. Now those following the PHP.net manual setup suggestions on Windows (ie. they have the php.exe on PATH), should be able to run php extractor.php in their drupal folder (given they copy extractor.php there), and get all the translation templates. Extractor.php itself will be excluded from the source files, when generating the templates. This can be easily done with any contrib project too. It was never easier to run the extractor. Please try on Windows, I don't have a Windows system here, so I cannot do it myself. BTW I also posted updated templates generated with this new script. decreased mem requirement by 3MB on translation import

Hi, I would like to ask any interested parties to test my patch, which reduces the memory requirements of a PO file import by 3MB (given that you deal with a typical complete translation file for Drupal core). This should be a major improvement for those on shared hosts, so that the memory requirement is not lifted because of the locale import. http://drupal.org/node/47610 If testers are found and this is deemed working well, the patch will get into 4.7.0.
