autolocale automatic installation

Hi, the #1 question regarding translating Drupal 5.0 using installation profiles is: > And why do you say 100% is translated? I enabled blog module and it is > not. Is there a way to hook into blog.install (for example) and perform AUTOMATIC import of translation, using auto locale module? So user will not have to run Administer -> Locale -> Auto Import ? hello translators (and the infrastructure maintainers who might be asked to help them), the packaging script for the new release system does a lot of special- case processing for translations. if there are any problems with your .po files, your releases will just not get rebuilt or published. unfortunately, the error propagation is basically non-existent. this has already led to a lot of confusion. i have plans to fix all of this, but i have no time to implement all of these ideas in the near future: http://drupal.org/node/109181 http://drupal.org/node/111323 until those issues are implemented and installed, i wrote up some instructions on how to replicate the work the packaging script is doing, so you can see where and why it's failing: http://drupal.org/node/109181#comment-185545 sorry i can't promise more help than that right now, but hopefully that will be enough to help people deal with this problem in the mean time. cheers, -derek p.s. perhaps someone wants to take these instructions and put them in a translator's handbook page somewhere? that'd be very kind of you. ;) or, at least find me the appropriate place to put it, and i'll add the page. thanks!

I want to contribute to Drupal 5 romanian translation. I have a CVS account. I got a local copy (with checkout) from repository. There is no Drupal 5 branch or version defined. How to start Drupal 5 translation? Thanks, Claudiu

strings updated for Drupal 5.0

Hi, I have just updated the strings for Drupal 5.0. There were two changes: - now we have 4 more strings in installer.pot, so we can translate the names of default content types and their descriptions - there was one more single string change in profile module There are no other changes since the Drupal 5 RC2 strings got published. I went into the code and started to implement this. But the problem is that it is not only about module files. Module files have included code files, and this is increasingly the situation in core. Like node.module has content_types.inc, which has a corresponding PO file. That file has nothing in its name about where it should go in the folder hierarchy, but it has the information put into the POT file by the extractor. Now we either do a static list of files and where they should go, or we rely on the information which was put into the POT file by the extractor (so it should be there in PO files too). Yes, the idea is that we can provide language specific modules in there. Like we are interested in providing a Hungarian date format module, which would form_alter() the date settings and allow for truly Hungarian date formats to set. Or there is a free webhosting company here, which needs an extra email header, and we can add that as a setting in Drupal 5 because of advances in the mail handling code. The idea is that you can distribute the language file and the Drupal core tarball separately. Why don't we do these discussions on the tarnslations mailing list?
