It is fascinating to me that the subject of Chomsky-an "context sensitive grammar" or language ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Context-sensitive_language) would appear even obliquely in this discussion.
I fear Gabor is right, and doubt that our Drupal architecture, semantic web and all, will be up to snuff to support a real time context sensitive grammar :) .
But who spoke on real time? As long as there are isolated string like "view", which are not classified in any way to take in account differences in other languages, there is nothing that can be done (until we have intelligent machines, of course). However, the humans that program the machines are intelligent, and, I believe, can distinguish between verbs and nouns. ;)
To me it seems a very simple thing. When somewhere in a module someone adds a "view" string (this is an example), it should classify it as a "verb" or a "noun".
Then is up to the translating team of each language to decide if the translated string would be the same for verbs and nouns or would be different.
