Hi
I recently got a CVS account so that I could upload the macedonian Drupal translation, and become its maintainer.
So I need to ask some questions.
Apart from commiting to the right branch (currently DRUPAL-5--2 ?) and opening a project, is there any other responsibility for me as a translation maintainer?
Do I have to create the tarball (probably something like mk-5.x-1.x-dev.tar.gz) my self or is there some script to do that?
If I work on trunk, will that show automagically in the next version of Drupal?
Is there a template how to create the project page?
I did some search on the mailing list archives, but I'm still not sure about these questions. Any help would be apreciated.

This is not a nice thing to say :( Macedonian was (one of many) official languages in Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia was (by constitution) federation of Republics (ie. States). Therefore you are incorrect in 2 out of 2 statements. Why are you so intolerable to this people? Keep this nazi comments within private discussion. I do not believe that a project whose intention is internationalization and making people closer and respecting each nation and its language is a proper place for this kind of attitude. If he wants to call his language "Lambada" and his country "Dolce Vita" it his his right given to him by declaration of human rights.

Good points Renato Brazilian people doesn't have a "brazilian" language. We spoke portuguese and we have our translation to our variant.
Here on East Timor they have 35 dialects and two "official" languages. For this, are we need just permit to send translations over Portuguese and Tetum? Or leave Makasai, Tetum Prasa and others?

There is no need to argue about which language can be in or not since not Vasileios but me make the rules which languages can be distributed as translations from drupal.org.
The rule is quite simple: Everything that is considered by at least some people as a language can be committed and will be made available for download.
Of course, languages with a large speaker (or rather: reader) base will be usually be more useful to more people, but I especially welcome languages which aren't widely spoken such as Faroese or in this case Macedonian.
Getting all or at least some of the mentioned 35 dialects as translations of Drupal would be most awesome.

Macedonia is and has been the largest northern region of Greece. Greece is separated (separated in the meaning that there are not borders, but more like geographical sections) in large regions, which some of them are Thrace, Macedonia, Cyclades, Peloponnisos, etc. So, I believe I am not really wrong when I speak of a small nation that CLAIMS MY NAME. Think of someone who refers to England or English people, when in fact refers only to Great Britain or British.

The matter between FYROM and Greece is a matter that has been raised by the former country and, unluckily for us Greeks and because of mishandled political actions, almost every country in the world knows FYROM as Macedonia. Keep in mind here that I don't claim to be somebody else, this somebody else does that.

I myself am a big supporter of FOSS and I have contributed with Greek translations either for Drupal or for Gentoo Linux. I don't oppose the commit of this translation, I oppose the commit of this translation under *that specific name*, because the name Macedonia represents a big part of the history of Greece and Greeks. That's the deal.

Ok. So, I also want Greek to be called German, English, Italian, Turkish. No big deal, right?
Before any other people reply to this thread, please get some information first before posting. This is a national issue between Greece and the nation of Skopje (FYROM), which after several years, has not yet reached a solution.

This is automated, you don't need to do anything apart from adding a release node on your project page.

The answer is no if we talk about next major version. Next version will be DRUPAL-6, so you need to branch HEAD/trunk when this branch becomes available. If "next version" means next minor version (now Drupal 5.3), then the answer might be yes, because there is no branching in DRUPAL-5 possible for translations. If your release node uses a CVS tag, then obviously it is a snapshot in time. If your release node is for a "development version", then the time the snapshot is taken always increments :) To be more clear: a snapshot is created regularly.

No. Write whatever you want in the body, read the descriptions of fields carefully for individual fields.
