Hi,
I said in february that we got a new friendly extractor, which autodiscovers the Drupal files, so we don't need any command line magic. Today's update means that we don't need any command line at all. Just drop the extractor in any folder under Drupal in your webroot, access the file via the webserver in a browser, and see the pot files generating. The script still autodiscovers all Drupal related files in all subfolders recursively.
Grab the new file from CVS or: http://href.hu/x/1i74 (a shortened CVS checkout address).
Ps. actually the extractor worked over the web fine already, it just printed an ugly line and then nothing. This was changed today. It still prints all the t() errors found, so those can be fixed.

I sincerely hope «don't need» does not mean «can't use».
Is that correct?
I love the commandline tool, and I would be very dissapointed if I am forced to do it over the web. Can I still use it from the commandline?
I did not test the new stuff yet, so I might be just speaking before my turn:)

Ber, you can still perfectly use it over the command line. I know you love the command line and I love it too, so the command line functionality is kept. The only change is that the shebang line is removed so it is not as simple as chmod +x-ing the file and running it as an executable but you need to run: 'php extractor.php'. This is the only difference in command line functionality, otherwise there is nothing lost.

Thanks. That is great to hear. That shebang pointed to the wrong binary for me anyway, so I lost nothing.
And just to be clear: adding web-based abilities to commandline tools is a good route, IMO. Since that still allows people to automate and/or build nice GUIs around them, yet also allows "normal" users to actually use such tools :)
After all: ubuntu, being a very user-friendly system, is nothing more then a huge bunch of GUIs around the usual GNU/linux/debian commandline programs. (well, in essence, it is).
And sorry for rushing in like that, :) Bèr
