I know it's only beta1 and may take a couple iterations to reach string-freeze or RC, but it's time to start thinking about translations! Are there any guidelines on drupal 6.x translation process? I remember seeing conversations on reorganizing all the translation projects, a localization server etc. Are they being deployed? Any plans, updates?
Thanks, Jim

The official string freeze will take place at the release of RC 1. Before that, quite some strings will probably change. It's not recommended to do massive translations (or translations of anything longer than a couple of words).

Understood :) I just started thinking about how to organize/colaborate the Simlified Chinese translation efforts. As I have seen discussions before, I am wondering if there is plan to restructure the translation projects, or have the localization ready before RC. Cheers, -Jim

Well, there is a new project coming up soon (the translation server), but as long as this is not yet set up, just continue translation like you did before (po file based). You could try to find people who want to help out translating and "assign" them to one or more template files. You can also create a writeup of best practices when translating, what constructions should be avoided etc.

Confirmed. (I am the <del>translation</del> <ins>localization</ins> server lead). Everything you do now will be importable to the system, so feel free to do whatever you have done so far. I'd like to have a demo site to gather more feedback soon, but I cannot provide you with a date.
So, for now, feel free to do what worked for you so far.
