Introduction

Hello everyone, let me introduce myself, too. My name is Adam Rambousek and I'm from Czech republic. As this indicates, I'm translating Drupal to Czech with the help of a few friends. With 4.6, we have translated some 99% and I stopped the remaining translation waiting for 4.7 release. Would it be possible to release 4.7 POT a bit earlier before final release? German translation: a german word for “node”

Hello, in this thread I would like to collect and discuss some translation proposals for the very central drupal term "node". The literal translation of that word is „Knoten" but most people don't associate a piece of content with that word. Because the second much more important meaning is "knot". The German Wikipedia has an article on this: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knoten_%28Hypertext%29 Translation proposals for "node": - Knoten: The literal translation that doesn't reflect the real meaning - Node: Simply using the original word is not very good in my opinion - Seite: Can be confused with the page.module as "page" does also mean „Seite" - Inhalt: Can be confused with "content" which means the same - Inhaltselement: A somewhat complicated word - Beitrag: Can be confused with "post" Does anyone have a better translation for that word? Hi! With the release of Drupal 4.7 beta 1, can I assume that the strings will remain stable? Can I continue with translating 4.7 to Afrikaans? Anyone with an idea about this? Regards, Kobus

Windows help for creating POT files needed

My introduction

I also think it is important to know who is on the list. My name is Michelangelo Partipilo, I am 24 years old so far and I live in Venezuela, so the language I manage is Spanish. I've been lost from the Drupal scene lately. I worked in the translation of most of Drupal to spanish sometime ago, but had to stop due to academic and work related issues. I use Drupal now for managing a simple intranet for my workplace, but since everyone here speaks english I don't use localization and the site is a whole mess because we don't have a defined structure. I'm waiting for the release of 4.7 to upgrade the site. Regards, Mike

i18n possibilities in Drupal

Hi, I'd like to know your oppinions about the current and the future state of the i18n possibilities in Drupal. The main problem: a company/community/blog/etc want's to be support more than one language. They wan't to give information for their homies and for the World at once. I suspected three modules, which provide i18n functions: localization module: it provides the user interface support. It's good for that but not capable to help the content/menu/taxonomy/etc translation i18n module: helps to translate a node, but there's no real relation between the original and the translated node. You're not able to translate the taxonomy and the menu system. It needs core-patching. tr module: you can translate the node/taxonomy/menu , but it's in experimential state now, you have to patch the core to use it. you can use special hostname to handle the different languages, but it's not able to handle it as a part of query string as i18n module does. Features I'd like to see (in random order): - a statistics page about which node aren't translated... - Localization API support for modules. These modules can use the region/currency/etc functions or extend them. Eg: ecommerce - I'd love to see one module for UI translation and one useful for the content translation. I don't really know why Rob started a new project. The goals are seems to me same. - Forget patches. Try to force core developers to implement much more i18n functions :] - Handle languages by QUERY_STRING (because of cookies). Rob told me, his tr module made for especially anonymous users. - Special rights for translators. Who can translate a node? The translator group. - There should be API functions for modules, with them the modules will be able to tell which fields should be translateable. The main i18n module should (or tr, I don't know :)) recognize this. Do you have an idea? Tell us! Bests, -- Aries
