Hi! Great report! Can you please submit this at http://drupal.org/node/add/project-issue/infrastructure (component localize.drupal.org), so its sure taken care of. Unfortunately email is not a good medium to track and ensure things will happen. The volume of email most of us getting, it falls off the radar pretty quick. Translate taxonomy

Good afternoon List, I'm having a hard time to translate my taxonomy. My taxonomy is called 'catalog' and has categories with subcategories: e.g. collars with blue, red and white as subcategories. I'm trying to translate them to Spanish so i added the category in Spanish, the subcategories also in Spanish and created 'new translations' so the relationship was established as per http://drupal.org/node/313268 When i use the language switcher to have the Spanish version, the taxonomy however doesn't get translated and i'm only getting the English version. The taxonomy is a UC_cart block. Translation node for the taxonomy is set as 'Per language terms', all the terms have their own language set. In the content types i've disabled the taxonomy synchronization, enabled it .... nothing. Language negotiation is "path prefix only". Content selection mode: Mixed current language (if available) or default language (if not) and language neutral. Am i missing something? Or do i need a separate module for this? Localization update module

Good evening list, I'm trying to get a multinational site up but the admin part needs only English. I'm reading up on the documentation but i have a few questions, so i hope a kind soul can enlighten me: 1) localization update module: is that only needed when you need the admin part also translated? 2) for translating the content, i need to use the the Content Translation module? 3) what about buttons and such? two issues to help out for translation support

Hi, Looks like there are two important issues to help out with to improve translation support in Drupal 7: 1. Drupal should not require .po file rename in installation - which tries to solve this problem that many people experienced that Drupal now requires .po files downloaded to be renamed to use for installation. Confusing for many people. Has a nice patch: http://drupal.org/node/994500#comment-3874206 Please review, test and dissect :) 2. Drupal cannot be installed in a non-predefined language - can be easily reproduced due to the above bug, but even if that resolved can still be an issue (although much more minor). I think this will need a bit more discussion, but the patch presented is IMHO not a good direction as of now: http://drupal.org/node/1007488#comment-3874184 Given the imminent release of Drupal 7, we should really get together and get these resolved if we'd like to see an easy to install localized Drupal 7 out of the box :) Thanks, Gábor

renaming "potx"

Hi, I decided it is time to rename potx. Some reasons: 1. It is a cryptic name :) 2. It is not anymore about .pot extraction per say... the primary output from a users point of view is not a translation template anymore. 3. It integrates with l10n_server extracting strings from source code to database (no pot templates involved in the process) 4. It does coder integration to find localization API issues in your code 5. It plans to do real translation status reporting (finding all source strings and showing you where you actually stand vs. the built-in source string finder) 6. It plans to do translation optimization (finding source strings only for enabled modules and themes and letting you delete extraneous strings) Point 6 is ever more important now that we move to one .po file per project on localize.drupal.org. All-in-all, I'd like to make this a more friendly and "accessible" tool and recognize it is not anymore about translation templates. I'm thinking of a few names, but not sure what's best long term. I'd like to use the l10n_* prefix that we established with l10n_client, l10n_update, l10n_pconfig, l10n_update, l10n_install, l10n_server etc. Some ideas that come to mind: l10n_extractor, l10n_parser, l10n_code_analyzer, l10n_api_extractor, etc. I hope to set up the module for "the long term" with this new name, so tips in choosing the best name would be good :) Thanks, Gábor

content/node translation question

Hi all, I have create a simple website containing 6 static web pages using drupal. Around 4 pages created are forms containing various form fields. Now, i have to convert the same into a multilingual website. I do not want to create a separate page for the forms as i need only the form field lable(s) to be translated into multiple languages and not the field data (which will be in english only). For example, the form contains fields like: Name Middle Name Surname Qualification My question: Can i simply create a .po file containing translations for the above mentioned strings ? This will help me customize the form later, for example, like re-arrange the position of fields. Can someone please guide me on this. Regards, Vishy
